Humana (HUM) reported second-quarter results Wednesday that were much better than feared, sending its stock price soaring and giving us the confidence to stick with the jilted health insurer. Not only did second-quarter numbers top expectations, but management offered assuring commentary on the worrisome medical-cost trends that torpedoed its stock price in mid-June . That one-two punch explains the more-than-5% jump in Humana shares, pushing the stock to its highest levels since June 14. Outlook Humana raised its outlook for 2023 individual Medicare Advantage membership growth by 50,000 to roughly 825,000 members, representing an 18% increase compared with enrollment levels at the end of 2022. Capital allocation Humana CFO Susan Diamond said the company has capitalized on the "recent dislocation" in its stock price — i.e.

By the Giants’ third World Series title of that stretch, in 2014, Semien was a young infielder with the Chicago White Sox. “I grew up in the Bay Area, so I’d seen what he did with those rosters in San Francisco,” Semien, now the heart and soul of Bochy’s first Texas Rangers team, said over the weekend. “In the beginning of the year, nobody thought they’d do anything,” he said, speaking about those Giants teams. Is It Time to Toss My Skin Care Products?

Q: I have a drawer full of skin care products of dubious age. Unless the product is classified as a drug, as acne treatments and sunscreen products are, you probably won’t find an expiration date on it, said Dr. Bruce Brod, a dermatologist at Penn Medicine. But that labeling is not required on skin care products or cosmetics either, Dr. Brod said. If skin care products are so old that you have forgotten when you bought them, you should avoid using them, Dr. Brod said. “It’s always better to be safe than sorry,” he added, since applying products that are past their prime can come with risks.

It's not unusual for a company's stock price to soar — or sink — on news of a CEO shakeup. So, CEOs matter when picking stocks — and at the Club, these are the five things we look for when evaluating the leaders of our holdings. A stock's day-to-day and even month-to-month performance may not truly reflect how well a CEO is leading a company. Trust has value, and the stocks of companies led by reputable CEOs with competent management teams can trade at premium valuations. Juneteenth became an official federal holiday two years ago, but it was an unofficial holiday for many Black people before then. We should say, "We are a nation of Indigenous peoples, enslaved peoples, and immigrants." Since President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law two years ago, Juneteenth is now a federally recognized holiday. Some schools, such as Georgetown, have gone further than acknowledgement by renaming buildings that glorify slave owners and offering full scholarships to descendants of enslaved peoples. The Juneteenth National Independence Day Act is but another step towards inclusion of all peoples who made America: "We are a nation of Native peoples, enslaved peoples, and immigrants."

EV battery replacements could cost anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000, according to Recurrent. One of the biggest concerns that prospective electric-car buyers have is if they'll ever have to make a costly battery replacement. Excluding major recalls for the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV and Hyundai Kona Electric, of the EVs studied by battery health reporting firm Recurrent, only 1.5% have received battery replacements. Including the two well-known EV battery pack recalls raises that percentage of battery replacements to 6.5%, according to Recurrent, or 975 of the 15,000. Automakers have a variety of EV battery warranties to assuage fears about potential replacements.

Devin Booker led the way for the Suns with 28 points while Durant added 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. The home team has now won every game in the series so far, with Game 6 taking place in Phoenix on Thursday.

CNN —Scarlett Johansson may have sued Disney in 2021 for breach of contract, but the “Black Widow” star still is – and always has been – a full-fledged Disney adult. (A Disney adult can be defined in many ways depending on one’s level of fandom, but the term tends to refer to a grown person that is a dedicated Disney fan.) “We had annual passes to Disney World, and I have a real passion for the Disney parks,” Johansson said, adding that the obsession with Disney began when her family lived in Florida for two years when she was younger. The star even said her dream job is to have a “corner office” on the Disney studio lot when she appeared on Bruce Bozzi’s “Table for Two” podcast in 2022. Johansson sued the studio in 2021, alleging Disney breached her contract by releasing “Black Widow,” a 2021 Marvel film she starred in, on home streaming platform Disney+ the same day it was released in theaters.

That’s why I dismiss predictions — fashionable, even at some of these networks — that cable news is doomed to irrelevancy. Mr. Carlson’s reach made him an unelected leader of the Republican Party, someone the House majority leader, Kevin McCarthy, had to propitiate. An entire ecosystem of far-right sites and social networks eagerly waited to promote Mr. Carlson’s episodes each night.
