Coronations at Westminster Abbey go back almost one thousand years. Like Charles III, William had his coronation at Westminster Abbey. Gross says coronation blunders do not become truly significant for monarchs until their reign starts to go wrong. A “beautiful and symbolic” silver cross containing a piece of the so-called True Cross will lead King Charles’ coronation procession in London next month. Meanwhile, gun salutes will sound from military bases and ships at sea to mark the moment Charles is crowned King.
MAD HOUSE In a family home near London, designers Salvesen Graham didn’t want any room too perfect—in the British country-house tradition. Photo: Simon BrownAN ALMSHOUSE is, historically, a place of refuge where all are welcome, which is an excellent ethos for a warm and comfortable family home. Constructed to provide housing for rotating guests, the structure outside London comprised a row of rooms, with a chapel at the end. At the same time, the series of idiosyncratic and colorful rooms that would reflect the client’s “bubbly, vivacious and really fun” personality had to somehow cohere. A few of the unifying aesthetics: From a richly floral Josef Frank fabric on the family-room sofa to the blush-painted cabinets in the kitchen, “fresh, bright and breezy pinks and reds thread the property,” said Ms. Graham.
Eric Trump said he was on a commercial flight when news broke about his father's indictment. Trump raged at the indictment, which he said makes "a mockery out of our legal system." I was on a commercial flight when this whole indictment broke. It is not yet clear what the exact charges are, but reports suggest that Trump faces about 30 charges relating to document fraud. Since news of Trump's indictment broke on Thursday, his children and many Republicans have spoken out in support of him.
A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Donald Trump on Thursday. Donald Trump Jr. interrupted his scheduled programming on Rumble to react to the news. Trump Jr. also incorrectly stated that the district attorney is indicting Trump. "Soros-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is actually indicting my father," Trump Jr. said on Rumble. "I found out about this about 15 minutes before I went live," Trump Jr. said.

Mark Cuban typically only invests in companies if he can see himself — or his NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks — using their products. On Friday's episode of ABC's "Shark Tank," he made an exception on behalf of his two daughters and his wife, making a $400,000 investment deal with San Francisco-based makeup company Youthforia. Robert Herjavec said he didn't understand what made the product unique, and Lori Greiner said she didn't use oil-based makeup. That's when Cuban came back in, saying he'd offer $400,000 for 10% without a royalty deal, because his daughters and wife would "understand" the product. O'Leary, growing frustrated, said he'd give $400,000 for 7.5%, but wanted a 75-cent royalty until he made $1 million.
That, however, is considerably more overlap than between the protagonists featured in H.W. Brands’s latest book, “The Last Campaign: Sherman, Geronimo and the War for America.” Despite their twin billing, the general and the Apache leader do not cross paths in the book, and apparently never met. Moreover, while “Heat” remains original and taut (despite its nearly three-hour runtime), “The Last Campaign” is predictable and baggy, following an established path now beaten to dust by generations of professional and popular historians. At first blush, author and subject seem well matched. Mr. Brands is a talented storyteller, with a novelist’s feel for pacing and detail.

At first blush the idea may sound intriguing to those who favor small government. But this Biden promise is sure to be broken once someone explains to the President that his beloved spending bills—and all other kinds of bills—have to pass both houses of Congress before becoming law. Perhaps the White House will be issuing a correction, as it did for another part of the Thursday speech. Foolish and false presidential comments are not exactly news, but Mr. Biden’s Thursday remarks were striking. Just warming up with his standard distortions early in the address, here’s how the President reacted to the news of slowing GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2022:
The Things We Might Cringe At in the Future

One day we’ll look back on this moment and wonder: What were we thinking? What are the things we do today that will seem embarrassing or otherwise regrettable to our future selves — the stuff that will make us cringe when we look back on how we lived our lives in the early 2020s? More than 30 people from academia, fashion, media, the arts and business weighed in, as did a certain infamous chatbot. One day, perhaps very soon, many of these prognosticators said, we will blush to recall how we fished for likes on social media or shared our most private thoughts (and pics) with strangers. But our online behavior was just one of a multitude of potentially lamentable habits and trends cited by those who took a moment to predict what will make our future selves ashamed.
CNBC obtained copies of Hasbro's reformed licensing agreements — open game license 1.1 and an FAQ section for OGL 2.0. Leaders in the Dungeons & Dragons community greeted the news of the delay with cautious optimism. The attempt to create a new game license comes as Wizards of the Coast looks capitalize on a surge in popularity of Dungeons & Dragons. Chaotic neutralThe reworking of Hasbro's open game license is not an unexpected move for the business, MKM's Handler said. There were growing concerns that the community would fracture if publishers were forced to move away from the Dungeons & Dragons game mechanics to develop their own gaming systems.
And while this shouldn't bother banks — they make plenty of money doing what they do best — this is Wall Street. In fact, the face of Wall Street, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, literally declared war on fintechs on an earnings call in 2021. But, as Insider's Bianca Chan and Reed Alexander recently outlined in a fantastic feature, banks' bid to topple fintechs is hopeless. Whether it's JPMorgan's digital-only bank Finn or, more recently, Goldman Sachs' Marcus, banks' attempt to cosplay as fintechs rarely ends well. Click here to read more about why banks are doomed to keep failing in their fight against fintechs.

Friday’s release of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns from his four years in the White House and two years prior is an important and long overdue public service. It also would have been a warning shot to any future presidents who may want to keep their tax returns private. ), chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, asked the agency for information related to Trump’s tax returns. Ultimately, though, it’s on House Democrats that the Trump tax documents release on Friday were so limited. So they couched their court case as looking into the effectiveness of mandatory IRS audits of tax returns of all sitting presidents.
REUTERS/Lucas JacksonCompanies Smith & Wesson Brands Inc FollowDec 20 (Reuters) - The upstate New York city of Buffalo on Tuesday filed a lawsuit in state court accusing major gun manufacturers of fueling violence through irresponsible marketing and sales practices. Writer Jill Schildhouse recently did a $300 "color analysis" session to reimagine her work wardrobe. While setting up the appointment, Thurber instructed me to arrive without any makeup, because a fresh face without outside influences interfering is needed to identify your best colors. Next, she went through my entire 'winter' spectrum of 36 colors to see which were most flatteringThese are also known as my "wow" colors. Jill SchildhouseSince my color analysis, I've discovered that building a new wardrobe around my color palette and "wow" colors really simplifies shopping and getting dressed. Family and friends have asked what I'm doing differently or why I'm glowing, and wearing these "wow" colors in my social media posts has even increased engagement.
The filing also alleges that customers "believed his lies" and believed the platform was secure — and subsequently sent billions of dollars to FTX. But from the start, the SEC claims, Bankman-Fried improperly diverted customer assets to his privately held crypto hedge fund, Alameda Research. The SEC said Bankman-Fried hid those actions from FTX's equity investors, including American investors, "from whom he sought to raise billions of dollars in additional funds." "He repeatedly cast FTX as an innovative and conservative trailblazer in the crypto markets," the complaint said. Neither the SEC nor Emmer were immediately available to provide further comment.

Last week Elon Musk released the “Twitter Files,” revealing that the company blocked anything it wanted related to the Hunter Biden laptop story—wrongly it turned out. I wrote a column in October 2020 on social-media bias that Twitter restricted for many users simply because I mentioned the ban and Ukrainian payoffs. In addition, Mr. Musk previously accused Apple of threatening to remove Twitter from its App Store after his company uncanceled Donald Trump and others. Apple CEO Tim Cook then walked Mr. Musk around the company’s spaceship headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., and assured him that “Apple never considered doing so.” Sunshine can be a pre-emptive disinfectant. Its App Store, the only one on the iPhone, with fees that would make Tony Soprano blush, demands that apps “not include content that is offensive, insensitive, upsetting, intended to disgust, in exceptionally poor taste, or just plain creepy.” OK, that sounds creepy.

First, it's important to pay attention to how people say what they're saying. "That's a telltale sign of indecision, and possibly lying," Donaldson said. "They're sitting on a couch or chair and they're speaking with you, then all of a sudden they're moving around," Donaldson said. What do you do if you think someone's lying to you? Donaldson suggested asking the person follow-up questions — and repeat questions — because if they're lying, it might be difficult to maintain consistency with their answers.
