REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Aug 31 (Reuters) - "Barbenheimer" - the twin-bill summer box office phenom - sure helped to drive U.S. consumers back to cinemas last month, but movie-going is still struggling to catch up to other recreational spending categories post-pandemic. While that helped long-suffering box office receipts, it made less of a splash for overall consumer spending when compared to larger categories like clothing and household furnishings, economists at Oxford Economics said. It made a big difference in the live-event spending area though, at least for the moment. This summer’s box office has been out of the ordinary with ticket sales for the season up $500 million from last summer’s sales, according to data firm Box Office Mojo. While other categories of live-event spending have fully recovered from the hit delivered by pandemic shutdowns, film attendance outlays remain at roughly 65% of their pre-COVID levels.

CNN —Tina Knowles has appeared to refute the theory that her daughter Beyoncé dropped mentioning Lizzo on tour because of a lawsuit. The lyrics to the song include references to “Betty Davis, Solange Knowles, Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl,’ Lauryn Hill, Roberta Flack” and other prominent women, which Beyoncé recorded with Madonna. That led some to believe the superstar was distancing herself from Lizzo. Knowles jumped in the comments on an Instagram post about the alleged snub. “She also didn’t say her own sister’s name yal [sic] should really stop,” Knowles wrote.

Beyoncé performs onstage during the “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR” at PGE Narodowy on June 27, 2023 in Warsaw, Poland. "One of the things of course that struck me is how enormously high prices for concerts, for gigs have become," he told CNBC Make It. "I suspect that there is an impact on inflation overall from concert prices becoming more expensive. That's not necessarily due to one particular artist," he said, adding that concert prices themselves do, however, appear to have increased. Beyoncé shows blamed for fueling inflation in Sweden

Beyoncé performs onstage during the opening night of the “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR” at Friends Arena on May 10, 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden. Beyoncé has won a record number of Grammys, has become one of the best-selling musical artists in the world and is on a sold-out, record-breaking world tour. "So whilst Beyoncé may have caused a shock to one month's data, she's not the reason for inflation in Sweden that's well above the central bank's target," he said. As in many European countries, Sweden has faced sharp inflation and higher household costs since Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted the wholesale energy market and distribution networks. And as for Grahn, he is not expecting to remain of interest to either Beyoncé fans or the world's media.

Beyoncé kicked off her blockbuster Renaissance tour in Stockholm, Sweden. The shows attracted a surge in hotel stays which impacted the country's inflation, an economist said. Economist Michael Grahn told The Wall Journal he considered it a "Beyoncé blip." On Wednesday, Sweden Statistics, a government agency, said restaurants and hotels added 0.3 percentage points to the rate while recreation and culture metrics contributed 0.2 percentage points, according to The Financial Times. "Beyoncé is responsible for the extra upside surprise this month," Grahn added to The Financial Times.

LONDON, May 31 (Reuters) - Beyoncé's fans, collectively known as the "BeyHive," are going savage to catch a glimpse of her during her "Renaissance World Tour". Money and distance are no object when your idol beckons in 57 concerts across 40 cities in North America and 14 across Europe. Jimmy Long of San Francisco flew to Stockholm for the May 10 opening show after finding $370 front-section "Club Renaissance" seats - a bargain compared to similar U.S.-based tickets costing $1,200 or more. England-based Ayo Awokoya was uplifted despite enduring an arduous Manchester-London train ride that lasted six hours instead of 4-1/2 hours. Janny splurged 6,000 reais ($1,199.21) for her first flight, on top of 5,000 reais for Club Renaissance tickets in Frankfurt, Germany.

Aftonbladet, a Swedish daily newspaper, is trying to appeal to young people. In response, Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet got creative, using AI to create rap songs that summarize the news and music to pair with written stories, the paper said. Aftonbladet acknowledged the murky ethics of AI-generated content. "The AI-generated rap is also, as hip-hop tends to be, loaded with some values. The paper has an AI policy in place, which allows journalists to use the technology for various parts of their jobs, including to create headlines, interview transcriptions, and video subtitles.
I downgraded to a cheaper iPhone 12 after my 14 Pro Max was stolen in March by a thief on a bike. I knew when my iPhone 14 Pro Max was stolen by a thief on a bike, I wouldn't be able to afford another $1,199 to replace it (and no, I didn't have insurance). I decided to downgrade to a used iPhone 12 Pro Max that cost just under £500, or about $620. Even directors are using them to make films after all: Vishal Bhardwaj shot "Fursat" on an iPhone 14 Pro. But speaking as someone who's always had to have the latest iPhone, I realized that last year's model can be more than just fine.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said concerns from labels and music companies about AI are "legitimate." His comments come after AI-generated songs that sound like popular artists went viral this month. The music industry has "legitimate concerns" about songs generated by AI, the CEO of Spotify said. Daniel Ek addressed the industry's growing unease about AI music in Spotify's first quarter earnings call Tuesday and said it's working with partners to come up with solutions. REUTERS/Shannon StapletonNEW YORK, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. singer and actress Chloe Bailey, half of sister R&B duo Chloe x Halle, releases her debut solo album on Friday, a record whose message she says is: it is OK to show your vulnerable side. "The creative side didn't feel different, but (not) having the moral support and the validation from someone who's been my best friend since I was a little girl ... that was incredibly scary," Bailey said of doing the album solo. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that there have been "major creative differences between Ivy Park and Adidas."

While ticket prices were advertised starting at $69 on Ticketmaster, fans were quick to share videos showing upper-level seats on sale for $200. Other tweets blamed Ticketmaster for the high prices despite Drake's tickets being released on at least one other ticket outlet. "$200+ for nosebleed drake tickets is criminal…. Like Drake and Beyoncé, fans of Taylor Swift have also expressed outrage at difficulty to obtain tickets and high prices to her 2023 Eras tour.
