Here's how Sony did in the June quarter, versus LSEG consensus estimates:Revenue: 3.01 trillion Japanese yen ($20.5 billion), versus 2.8 trillion yen expected. Operating profit: 279.11 billion yen ($1.9 billion), versus 275.35 billion yen expected. Gaming, for which Sony is well-known thanks to its popular PlayStation consoles, banked revenues of 864.9 billion yen in the quarter, up 12% from 771.9 billion yen a year ago. For full-year 2024, Sony revised its forecast upward saying it now expects to hit 12.6 billion yen of sales. Sony also upped its operating profit forecast by 3%, noting it expects to reach 1.3 trillion yen in consolidated operating profit for the full year.

☆ Dolce & Gabbana launch new perfume – for dogs

CNN —Not content with dressing the top dogs of the music scene, from Beyoncé and Usher to Christina Aguilera, Dolce & Gabbana now has its sights on making actual dogs that bit more stylish. Inspiration for the product that the world didn’t know it needed came from the “unconditional love” that Domenico Dolce – one half of the famous designer duo – has for his “loyal dog Fefé,” according to the company’s website. A series of well-groomed dogs appear on camera in a promotional film on the D&G website. As classical music plays in the background, a narrator says: “I am delicate, charismatic, authentic, sensitive, enigmatic, rebel, fresh, irresistible, clean. British designer Anya Hindmarch features a dog poop-bag-holder charm on her website for £135 ($172).

Taylor Swift narrates a new promo video for NBC Olympics in primetime, paying tribute to Team USA’s finest who all medaled in Paris: gymnast Simone Biles, swimmer Katie Ledecky and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. Swift’s single “Style,” from the re-released version of her album “1989,” plays alongside her narration in the minute-long clip.
