A United Nations relief group in the Gaza Strip said one of its refugee school shelters was bombed. The bombing occurred during Israeli airstrikes, Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said. At least six people were killed after a United Nations refugee school was bombed during Israeli airstrikes, said the relief agency running the shelter. "The school was hit during Israeli forces airstrikes and bombardment on the Gaza Strip," Lazzarini said. At least 2,670 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes since October 7, per the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Hamas blamed an Israeli airstrike, while the Israeli military said the hospital was hit by a rocket misfired by Palestinian militants. Hamas' Oct. 7, attack in southern Israel killed more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took some 200 captive into Gaza. Two of the sources said the request was for a full year of funding, explaining the large size. Bloomberg first reported that Biden was considering making a $100 billion request. Senator Mitch McConnell, the chamber's top Republican, said he expected the request to include assistance for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan, and said Republicans want it to include "something serious" for the border.
