A woman who boarded a transatlantic flight without a ticket or passport got through security a special lane for airline staff, court documents say. The complaint says that about 90 minutes after being screened by the TSA alongside ticketed passengers, Dali boarded Flight DL264 without presenting a boarding pass. Before the flight landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Delta staff realized Dali was on board the plane and she couldn't show them a boarding pass, the complaint says.

Another year, another sales record: Retailers again saw purchases hit new heights over Thanksgiving weekend, even as shoppers remain cautious about where and when to spend. In-store and digital retail sales tracked by MasterCard rose 3.4% on Black Friday since last year, with e-commerce purchases surging 14.6%. In fact, online prices were 3% lower during the Thanksgiving sales period than last year, he said. That indicates many consumers are shelling out beyond what it takes just to keep up with price increases. Black Friday is all about deals, but consumers have been more receptive to deals all year.

WASHINGTON — The Senate voted Monday to approve the promotion of a general who oversaw troops during the U.S. withdrawal from Kabul, Afghanistan, after it had been blocked by a Republican senator aligned with President-elect Donald Trump. The Senate voted by unanimous consent, meaning all 100 senators agreed, to approve Army Lt. Gen. Christopher Donahue's promotion to four-star general to oversee U.S. Army forces in Europe. Sen Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., had blocked Donahue’s promotion, NBC News reported last month, citing a Senate aide. Donahue, who was commander of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Kabul withdrawal in 2021, was the subject of a viral photograph as the last soldier to board a U.S. military plane out of Afghanistan. An inspector general's report in 2022 found that decisions by both Biden and Trump contributed to the troubled exit from Afghanistan.
