Pagers are wireless communication devices that receive radio signals from short- or long-range paging networks. Nine people were injured as they ran to shelters, after air raid sirens sounded in central Israel Sunday morning. A ballistic missile launched from Yemen crossed into Israel, landing in an open field outside Tel Aviv, the Israel Defense Forces said. The sirens were the first in months, and included Israel's Ben Gurion international airport in Tel Aviv, where local media showed footage of people racing to shelters. Responders put out a fire in the area of Lod, near Tel Aviv, in central Israel. The IDF originally said that a "surface-to-surface missile was identified crossing into central Israel from the East and fell in an open area."

Russia announced the expulsions hours before British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House, a crucial step towards winning the go-ahead for Kyiv to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia. Neither Biden nor Starmer addressed long-range missiles in brief comments in front of reporters. Sources say the meeting is another step in talks to allow Ukraine to use Western long-range missiles against targets in Russia, something Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been demanding for months. The six UK diplomats were named on Russian state TV, which also showed photographs of them. The FSB said Russia would ask other British diplomats to go home early if they were found to be engaged in similar activity.

Rome CNN —Hundreds of posters have appeared on billboards across Italy this summer, bearing the slogan: “Russia is not our enemy” and depicting a handshake in the colors of the Italian and Russian flags. In Rome, the posters drew ire from the mayor’s office because they featured both the city’s name and its official symbol. In a decree to local police and the advertising company that owns the billboards in Rome, it ordered the removal of all posters. Earlier this month, they met at the European House’s Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio, northern Italy. The Russian propaganda posters have not caused notable outcry among the Italian public, in part because they started appearing during the summer months, when most Italians take their vacations.

CNN —Pressure is building on President Joe Biden, including from within his own party, to loosen the restrictions on Ukraine’s use of US-provided weapons to strike deep inside Russia. On Tuesday, the bipartisan congressional Ukraine caucus called on Biden to allow Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia with the long-range weapons. A group of key House Republican also urged Biden to ease the restrictions in a letter on Monday. On Tuesday, asked if the US will lift the restrictions, Biden answered, “we’re working that out right now.”Two US officials later told CNN that the Biden administration is not anticipating any policy changes when it comes to lifting restrictions.
