CNN —Record-breaking levels of thick, toxic smog that have shrouded eastern Pakistan and northern India since last month can be seen in striking satellite imagery. Air quality worsens in the winter because colder and drier air traps pollution, rather than lifting it away, as warm air does when it rises. For one, the market was already in a sturdy uptrend, the S & P ahead by 20% in 2024 by October. Now, the S & P is up 44% in the past 18 months and the P/E is above 22 on more elevated margins. Tesla and a handful of other so-called Trump trades led the market rally this week as investors welcomed the Republican's victory in the presidential election. Excluding stocks that reported earnings this week, some of the best performers were those viewed as tied to Donald Trump 's win. Trump trades can earn that title by being part of sectors such as financials or energy viewed as beneficiaries of his expected shifts away from regulation, among other things. CNBC screened for the Trump trade names that led the index higher this week and did not report earnings. The electric vehicle maker is one of the best-known Trump trades given CEO Elon Musk 's advocacy for the president-elect on the campaign trail.

CNN —President-elect Donald Trump’s social media stock had been sinking fast after a short-lived, post-election-victory surge this week. Then, with a single post on Truth Social, he helped boost the stock again – and added a half billion dollars to his net worth as a result. Trump is the company’s single largest shareholder, and his 114.75 million shares are now worth about $3.7 billion. Trump media rose just 4.4% over the past five days. That could be difficult to do, anyway, because the company’s valuation depends almost entirely on Trump’s ownership and participation on Truth Social, its core product.

Trump and the GOP have denied the tariffs would be inflationary, pointing to Trump’s success in imposing tariffs in his first term without reigniting inflation. Yet those tariffs, at $300 billion on selected Chinese goods, were much more targeted than the $3 trillion worth of blanket tariffs Trump is now expected to propose. And the inflationary environment is different now, too: During Trump’s first term, inflation only briefly ever climbed above 2%. It was Trump who appointed Powell to lead the Federal Reserve in his first term. But Trump has signaled a willingness this year to abandon the long-running principle of maintaining the Fed as an independent body.

Using its patented digital fingerprint technology, ProfilePrint can rapidly analyze the identity and quality of ingredients, helping agribusinesses save money and time. The problem, he explained, is a system of multiple rounds of physical food samples exchanged between buyer and sellers, replicated across "every part of the supply chain." Machine learning means the technology analyzes food samples at a molecular level and recognizes food quality within seconds. As well predicting the quality and flavor profiles, the company's ingredient quality platform can offer their client various options when it comes to balancing quality with price. Profile Print is not alone within the still embryonic pool of food quality and AI startups.
