For example, she said a Valentine’s Day-themed heart-shaped box of Sour Patch Kids candy (3.45 oz) was listed on Walmart.com for $3.96 ($1.15 oz), while a regular box of the candy (3.5 oz) costs $1.24 ($0.35/oz). Walmart said it was looking into the price differences, but said some of the Valentine’s Day candy items on its website are listed by third-party sellers on Walmart marketplace. A Walmart supercenter in New Jersey visted by CNN also had the heart-shaped Sour Patch Kids candy box for $3.96 on the shelf. Some Sour Patch Kids Valentine's Day editions cost much more than the regular versions of the candy for roughly the same quantity. “Buy the candy after Valentine’s Day when it’s heavily discounted or buy the regular cheaper version of the candy and package it yourself,” he said.

Penn Entertainment's ESPN Bet sports betting service could prove to be a winner at the Super Bowl on Sunday — helped by the Taylor Swift effect, according to Bank of America. Morgan Stanley analyst Stephen Grambling calculates Swift could lead to about a 10% rise in viewership. These include proposition, or "prop," bets that aren't tied to the final score, such as "How many times will Taylor Swift be shown on camera during the telecast of the game?" or "Will the MVP mention Taylor Swift in his speech?" ESPN Bet especially could benefit because, compared with other sports betting platforms, it "may have a higher proportion of female bettors," Kelley wrote.

In a memorable montage from the 1999 workplace satire "Office Space," Peter Gibbons, a fed-up office drone, decides to take a stand. For years, the office cubicle was the four-walled avatar of corporate disaffection. Late '90s films like "Office Space," "Fight Club," and "The Matrix" enshrined its detested status. The tech boom arrived, bringing with it open office plans and a Silicon Valley-led gloss of egalitarianism, epitomized by Google's high-profile headquarters redesign in 2005. The top comment on the "Office Space" cubicle clip on YouTube captures the irony of this shift: "I would have killed for a cubicle," the commenter wrote.

While EV sales are continuing to grow, they are doing so at a slower pace, research shows. Elon Musk warned a slowdown in sales growth was coming when Tesla reported earnings on Wednesday. The Warren Buffett-backed EV maker, which sells its vehicles in more than 60 countries and recently overtook Tesla on global EV sales, put an early focus on affordable models such as the $10,000 Seagull. EV sales surged 40% year-on-year in the last three months of 2023 —a "strong result by any measure," as the industry research noted. Aran Waid, senior analyst at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, said growth in EV sales globally was continuing but that it had "fallen short of automaker expectations."

But EV prices are still about 28% more expensive than average gas-vehicle prices, an analysis by CarGurus found. AdvertisementLang laid out three reasons China is finding success where competitors are struggling:Scale"The Chinese OEMs are already profiting off a large domestic market," he said. "The Chinese EV players are here to stay," he continued. They may eventually try entering the US market, Lang said, but it might not be easy given all the local competition and incentives to buy domestically.

The NewsThe third and final trial over the death of Elijah McClain opened Wednesday in a Colorado courtroom, where jurors will be asked to decide whether two paramedics who responded to the deadly police encounter can be held criminally responsible for what happened to him. Mr. McClain, a young, unarmed Black man, died in 2019, six days after a violent struggle with police officers in Aurora, Colo. Three officers have already been prosecuted over his death; one was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and second-degree assault and the other two were acquitted. The final trial is a rare instance of medical personnel being prosecuted for their roles in a police-custody death. The two paramedics being tried together are charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and several counts of assault.

These figures include both battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid EVs. But even as U.S. EV market share grows steadily, hurdles still stand in the way for some car buyers considering electric.
