A copy of Prigozhin's calendar obtained by Die Welt and shared with Insider shows just how deeply enmeshed he was with the Putin regime. Putin's name appears in Prigozhin's calendar only twice, and neither entry records a one-on-one meeting. Wagner employees typically identify themselves and sign documents using three or four-digit employee numbers, and most Prigozhin's meetings with Wagner Group employees are presented this way. These rows of data extracted from Yevgeny Prigozhin's private calendar show Wagner Group personnel identified solely by their employee numbers. In the end, his demands for a slot on Putin's calendar went unanswered.

The SEC data analyzed by CNN shows that home decor sales have doubled at both Home Depot and Lowe’s in that time period. By 2022, decor products accounted for 5.4% of Lowe’s sales – more than the tools, building materials, flooring or hardware categories. In 2019, year-over-year net sales at Home Depot and Lowe’s grew by roughly 2% and 1%, respectively. In 2020, Home Depot sales grew by nearly 20%, while Lowe’s saw sales jump by roughly 24%. While still primarily home improvement retailers, expanding into home decor was simply a logical opportunity for Home Depot and Lowe’s, Saunders said — especially online.

Show with Bob and David' actor has been charged with a felony over his alleged actions at the January 6 Capitol siege. The actor was arrested in California, according to Ryan J. Reilly of NBC News. In December, Johnston was removed from the cast of "Bob's Burgers," and a number of his former colleagues — including actor and comedy writer Tim Heidecker — suggested on Twitter that Johnston was the man in the photo. Three current or former associates of Johnston identified him in the photographs circulated by the FBI, according to the federal complaint. Johnston has been charged with felony obstruction of officers during civil disorder, unlawful entry on restricted buildings or grounds, and impeding passage through Capitol grounds.

The RNC set a number of benchmarks a campaign needs to hit to make the August 23 debate. Candidates must poll at 1% or higher in three polls with over 800 likely Republican voters. Not many polls have over 800 likely Republican voters, so that'll be harder to hit than some expect. That's a high bar for some campaigns in the increasingly busy bottom of the race, but that's not even the number that's going to screw them. Chris Christie, Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Doug Burgum will all in the GOP primary by the end of the week.

Federal prosecutors are investigating Trump and some members of his staff for obstruction of justice, CNN reports. One maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago helped an aide move classified documents ahead of the August FBI search. The same worker later drained a pool and flooded a server room containing surveillance logs. The flooded room came two months after the FBI raided the residence and seized classified documents. Per CNN, prosecutors heard testimony that the IT equipment stored in the flooded room was not damaged during the flood.

A debt ceiling deal surprisingly green-lit the Mountain Valley Pipeline. The identity of the mystery trader is unknown, and some think it's an insider trading concern. Then, on May 27, the debt deal including the Mountain Valley Pipeline was struck. The options are still outstanding, so that number could grow in the event that Equitrans Midstream continues to rally. The deal on Mountain Valley was kept secret up until the debt deal was announced.

GOP Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina declared he's running for president. Morning Consult polling found that more Republicans heard nothing about the launch than heard positive things about it. In the week following the announcement, just 38% of GOP primary voters heard something positive about the candidate. By comparison, Morning Consult found that 47% of GOP primary voters heard something positive about former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley after her launch, while 51% of voters heard something positive about former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov.

CNN —A younger Congress may be a thing of the past. Ten years after meeting the age requirement for the Senate, age 30, baby boomers landed four seats, with millennials unable to get a single one. Millennials overtook baby boomers as America’s largest generation in 2020, according to Pew Research. Millennials and Generation Z (11-26) are winning their very first House seats faster than the previous four generations, CNN’s analysis shows. In the Senate, however, it’s taken more than 10 years for both Generation X and millennials to join Congress.
Republicans are looking to nudge Joe Manchin out of a Senate reelection bid in 2024. Still, Republican leaders aren't dismissing Manchin, as he has withstood the GOP lean of the state. And the state Senate and state House of Delegates, which had robust Democratic majorities just over a decade ago, now have GOP supermajorities. But if Manchin does run, Republicans should expect a tenacious campaigner who has shown that he won't be outworked. "He has that Clinton-esque ability to make everybody feel like he's your friend and he's listening to you and he's concerned about you," Hickey told Politico.
Since 1980, Berkshire shares have beat the broader market over the course of six recessions by a median of 4.41 percentage points. The iPhone maker has outperformed throughout the bear market, similarly driving outperformance for Berkshire Hathaway as Apple accounts for roughly 45% of the firm's portfolio, according to CNBC's Berkshire Hathaway portfolio tracker. That has helped Berkshire Hathaway Class A shares climb more than 4% this year. That's who's gotten rich from owning Berkshire Hathaway," said Bill Smead, founder and chairman of Smead Capital Management and a Berkshire shareholder. "People held Berkshire Hathaway to a fault and they got that benefit."

High loan rates mean monthly payments are soaring as well. In March, the average monthly payment for financing a new car hit $730 — the highest on record, according to Edmunds. Most $1,000 per month car loans are taken out by people who choose high-interest, longer-term loans. While buyers who opt for longer loans are paying less money up front, interest rates catch up over time. For instance, a buyer who takes a 70 month loan for a $28,700 used car at the current average loan rate could pay 38% more just in interest.
A video shows Biden appeared to be snubbed by Irish President Michael Higgins's dog. The president went to greet the Bernese mountain dog, but the dog rejected his approach and barked. The humorous interaction was captured on video as Biden approached the dog, Misneach, whose name means "courage," while touring the gardens of Higgins' residence. The video shows the large Bernese mountain dog, a Swiss breed, excitedly bounding toward its owner as Biden, a known dog-lover, approaches behind to greet the canine. The Irish dog's interaction with Biden occurred on the final day of the president's four-day trip to Ireland to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
CNN —It has almost never been as hard to buy a new or used car in the United States as it is today, despite improving supply issues and inflation beginning to steady. But used cars have a long way to go before approaching 2019 sales prices and new car prices have yet to slow down. What makes the 2020s unique is how much car prices rose in a short period of time. Over the used car market’s worst 12 months of the pandemic, the index rose 45%. There’s never been a 12-month period since the BLS began keeping records in 1947 when used car prices have inflated more.
