A quick peruse on social media and you'll quickly see that bite-mark tattoos are having a moment. However, a Betty Zoo Tattoo representative told Business Insider that the tattoo — which cost roughly 800 Danish kroner, or around $118 — was "harmless." You don't know where that person's mouth has been," the tattoo artist, who goes by Miss Vampira on Instagram, said. Mary Minahan is a tattoo artist with over a decade of experience in the industry. And while he's happy with his new ink, Thage said he plans to return to Betty Zoo Tattoo for a touch-up.

George Santos (R., N.Y.) told colleagues that he wouldn’t resign from Congress, in remarks ahead of an expected vote Thursday to expel the lawmaker over alleged theft and other wrongdoing related to his congressional campaigns. Support for removing Santos from office has grown in recent weeks, and colleagues set in motion two fresh attempts on Tuesday, even as the Republican Party leadership hasn’t endorsed the effort. In a speech on the House floor, Santos said that it would be improper for lawmakers to vote to expel him before the legal process fully plays out, arguing that removing him from office would set a dangerous precedent.

How Jewish People Built the American Theater
  + stars: | 2023-11-29 | by ( Jesse Green | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +46 min
Let Us Tell You A Story How Jewish people built the American theater as we know it. The theater, which for many Jews was a major way of becoming American in the first place, seems unable to acknowledge that the danger that American Jews face is not just historical, and not just onstage. (Both of Adler’s parents were Yiddish theater stars — her father, Jacob Adler, was a renowned Shylock in 1903.) Embedding their own observation and experience within Stanislavsky’s, along with the best of Yiddish theater and a generous dollop of Freud, they converted the American theater to Judaism. Sara Krulwich/The New York TimesThe Jewish contribution to the creation of the American theater was built on the acknowledgment of a larger humanity alive within each of us, available to some, with natural empathy and rigorous training.

Reps from Deutsche Bank, which NY says was defrauded, described actually prospering thanks to Trump. Advertisement"We are whale hunting," former Deutsche Bank executive Rosemary Vrablic told her fellow bankers of Trump in an email from 2011, soon after son-in-law Jared Kushner offered to make an introduction. She contends that Deutsche Bank was defrauded out of more than $100 million in interest income. As a sophisticated international lender, the bank did its own risk analysis, apart from Trump's net-worth statements, the defense has argued. But the state has countered that any fact-checking, any profit-making, and any other non-victim-like behavior on the part of Deutsche Bank is besides the point.

In a 1995 Broadway revival of “The Heiress,” based on Henry James’s novel “Washington Square,” she was Cherry Jones’s well-meaning, matchmaking Aunt Lavinia. In “The Good Doctor,” Neil Simon’s 1973 take on Chekhov, she played multiple roles in comedy sketches. Few investors are more emblematic of the no-interest-rate private market frenzy than billionaire Scott Shleifer. Tiger's venture approach in 2020 and 2021 — constantly described as unsustainable by rivals — included maneuvers such as offering start-ups more money than they were asking and emailing founders term sheets after a single meeting. Shleifer's reputation and personal wealth grew with Tiger's venture success. As Tiger was fundraising late last year, investors learned of a $10 million settlement Tiger Global made to a former female employee. At least one Tiger investor was surprised to hear about it from Coleman and not Shleifer himself.

It takes a village, not a threshing machine, to complete the harvest of pounds of watermelon seeds that will fill the simple, white packets sold by Turtle Tree Seed. “Nobody minds helping with the watermelon-seed collection,” said Lia Babitch, the seed company’s co-manager. She’s not just talking about their crew: Residents of Camphill Village, in Copake, N.Y., where Turtle Tree is headquartered, are happy to join in. It’s a pretty sweet task, after all, that involves eating the fruit of yellow-fleshed Early Moonbeam, or perhaps an heirloom like Moon and Stars, and spitting the seeds into cups provided for that purpose — the first step before washing, drying and eventually packing them for sale.

Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., is seen in the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Multiple House Republicans said Wednesday they believe there is now enough support by GOP lawmakers to boot Rep. George Santos from Congress later this week. Johnson said he has "reservations" about the vote to remove Santos. That many Republicans, added to what is expected to be overwhelming Democratic support, would easily surpass the two-thirds supermajority vote required to remove Santos from the 435-seat House. Another New York Republican, Rep. Anthony D'Esposito, said he believes this will be Santos' last week in Congress.

The New York Times reported on the latest trend: an Instagrammable office. A recent article in The New York Times highlighted bosses who want to woo workers back to the office with spaces designed to be Instagram-worthy. The company wanted an office design that would entice young workers to come in — as in to the actual office. Companies now want their office design to be visible not just to employees, but also to everyone on social media…And apparently, it worked. (Apparently unrelated to the office design, which she said friends commented was "so sick" when she posted it to Instagram.)

Opinion | How to Kill a Palestinian State
  + stars: | 2023-11-28 | by ( Bret Stephens | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
On Oct. 7, the axis of resistance became the face of the Palestinian movement. On Oct. 8, demonstrators around the world chose to embrace that axis. When Rashida Tlaib, the Michigan congresswoman, posted that “75 years later, the Nakba continues to this day” and declined to accept Israel as a Jewish state, she was embracing it. When Judith Butler, the Berkeley professor, told an interviewer that “the roots of the problem are in a state formation that depended on expulsions and land theft to establish its own ‘legitimacy’” and supported a binational state, she was embracing it. “A left that lauds intersectionality hasn’t noticed that Hamas’s axis of support consists of Iran, famous most recently for killing hundreds of protesters demanding women’s freedom.”

Trump will be the final witness for the defense on Dec. 11, in the trial brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accusing him and his co-defendants of falsely inflating Trump's assets for financial gain. Trump Sr., Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. denied wrongdoing when they were previously questioned on the witness stand by lawyers for the state. Lawson said the fan began heckling players before the game began, and was allowed to stay at his seat after the Bills asked stadium security officials to have the person removed. “Eventually, our emotions boiled over and I made a mistake,” Lawson wrote. Eady is easy to spot — he is the only Black person in the picture. This was not at all unusual for a writers’ retreat in 1980. In fact, it’s not all that unusual at many writers’ retreats 43 years later. She, too, had often been the only Black poet in the room at such gatherings. When they began talking, they discovered that they both shared the same wish: to create a program specifically for Black poets.

A state judge in Ulster County froze the interim program in August after four service-disabled veterans sued, claiming that they were illegally excluded from applying. They borrowed the argument from a lawsuit filed in March by a coalition of opponents that included four of the state’s medical cannabis companies. The settlement would end both lawsuits. Going forward, 436 retail license holders caught up in the litigation would be able to open shops and begin making deliveries, including 23 dispensaries that were ready to open before the stoppage. Lawyers for the plaintiffs in both lawsuits did not immediately comment on the settlement.

Tesla filed a lawsuit against the Swedish Transport Agency on Monday after postal workers began to block deliveries of license plates for the company's cars. Chuck Schumer Doesn’t Know How Gas Prices Work

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) gives remarks at a press conference in the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, Nov. 15. Photo: Anna Moneymaker/Getty ImagesSenate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and 22 Democratic senators recently wrote to Federal Trade Commission Chairman Lina Khan calling for an investigation into the proposed mergers between Exxon Mobil and Pioneer Natural Resources and Chevron and Hess . The letter argues that these mergers will enable “anticompetitive coordination in the industry” and raise U.S. gasoline prices. A fair assessment of the proposed mergers and the fossil-fuel market doesn’t reveal a firm legal and economic basis to initiate antitrust enforcement proceedings against these deals. If the senators really want a competitive energy market that supplies American consumers with lower-priced fuel, they should support these mergers, not obstruct them.
