In this photo illustration, the new Twitter logo rebranded as X (X Corp.) is seen on a smartphone and Elon Musk Twitter account with the new X logo on a pc screen. The X social media platform formerly known as Twitter will start collecting the biometric and employment information of its users, according to a Thursday update to the company's privacy policy. It is not clear how X plans to use the biometric information of users. X could theoretically collect biometric information from users through their photos or video, by requesting that they turn on their camera. Under Musk, X has sought to expand its reach beyond social media, messaging and audio content into areas such as financial services and recruitment.

Twitter became X last month, but major brands have been slow to adopt the new logo. It's been almost a month since Twitter rebranded to X, but most major brands haven't scrubbed the blue bird logo from their marketing yet. Other giant corporations like General Motors, American Express, Amazon, Comcast, and L'Oreal have continued to carry the old Twitter logo on their websites. X released a new brand toolkit with logo templates and other marketing assets for marketers to use earlier this month. Musk changed the company name of Twitter to X Corp. earlier this year and replaced Twitter's branding on July 24 .

Hoffman and Musk were both part of the "PayPal Mafia" — early PayPal employees who became big names in tech. In a new interview, former PayPal COO Reid Hoffman criticized Elon Musk's behavior during a merger years ago. Hoffman compared the merger to a marriage and said that Musk's behavior at the time was like someone hiding a sexually transmitted disease from their spouse.

Starboard Value's Jeffrey Smith has called artificial intelligence "an enormous opportunity," and there are hints of his enthusiasm in his latest, quarterly 13F filing to SEC. The activist investor drastically increased his stake in Wix.com , making it his ninth-biggest holding at the end of June. The hedge fund manager said there's more room for Salesforce to grow and the stock can rally another 30% on the back of the AI boom. Nine years later he spun out his New York-based hedge fund and became the CEO. The hedge fund manager also added a relatively small stake in British life science company Abcam PLC last quarter.

San Francisco got 24 complaints about the giant light-up sign on X's HQ, CNN reported. San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection got 24 complaints about the giant light-up "X" sign Elon Musk placed on the headquarters of the company formerly known as Twitter, the department's spokesperson told CNN. "That new 'X' sign looks really unstable and sketchy," one complaint reads. A crane was used to remove some of the letters from the old sign on the company's San Francisco HQ. The notice ordered X to stop the work and either obtain a building permit for the sign or dismantle it, which also requires a building permit.

Elon Musk has over the last year threatened legal action against tech competitors, employees and people who use Twitter, which he owns. Now he is also taking aim at an organization that studies hate speech and misinformation on social media. The letter cited research published by the Center for Countering Digital Hate in June examining hate speech on Twitter, which Mr. Musk has renamed X.com. The research consisted of eight papers, including one that found that Twitter had taken no action against 99 percent of the 100 Twitter Blue accounts the center reported for “tweeting hate.” The letter called the research “false, misleading or both” and said the organization had used improper methodology. The letter added that the center was funded by Twitter’s competitors or foreign governments “in support of an ulterior agenda.”

Elon Musk thinks turning X into an everything app like WeChat could make the company profitable. Elon Musk may be going all in with his plan to turn X into an everything app in the vein of China's WeChat. In fact, Musk gave us all some insight into what X might one day look like when he expressed his admiration for China's everything app, WeChat, last summer. We don't have anything like that outside of China," Musk continued. Even foreigners would be hard pressed to make their way around China without using the WeChat app to make simple purchases.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has officially retired its famous blue and white bird logo. The company previously introduced the logo on the web and launched the domain X.com, though Twitter.com also remains live. The transition from Twitter to X reflects Musk's vision to turn the platform into what he has called an "everything app." He shared a video of a large new X logo glowing on top of the company's headquarters early Saturday. "Time to update.," Yaccarino wrote in a post about the mobile app's logo change Friday.

Elon Musk has rebranded Twitter as 'X,' using a new domain — X.com. This has caused issues in Indonesia, where users are unable to access X.com, per Al Jazeera. Elon Musk announced on Sunday that the domain X.com, which he previously used for PayPal, had started redirecting users to Twitter. The ministry told Al Jazeera that the X.com domain had previously been used by websites that did not adhere to the country's regulations against "negative" content. Aribowo Sasmito, the cofounder of MAFINDO, a fact-checking group, told Al Jazeera that he believes the website was blocked because it sounded like "XXX," a porn site.

Twitter is rebranding to X, but Elon Musk still can't decide what the logo should be. The company subtly introduced a new version of the X on Tuesday, which is very similar except for thicker lines. The rebrand also irritated former Twitter employees, who deplored the X logo appearing on their LinkedIn profiles.

Elon Musk's Twitter rebrand could land him in legal hot water with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and others, experts say. On Sunday, Musk announced that he was getting rid of the Twitter brand and logo. Meta's trademark for a white-and-blue X relates to "social networking services in the fields of entertainment, gaming and application development." The announcement comes just weeks after the launch of Threads, a Meta-owned app seen by some as a "Twitter clone." X may be "powered by AI" in the future, as Yaccarino noted, but the first phase of Twitter's rebrand is simple for now.
