The Many Links Between Project 2025 and Trump’s WorldFormer president Donald J. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he had nothing to do with Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s conservative policy initiative to reshape the federal government. But Project 2025 has numerous ties to Mr. Trump and his campaign, a New York Times analysis has found. L. ZorcJump to the full list of authors, editors and contributorsSpokespeople for Project 2025 have denied that they are advocates for any particular candidate, and Project 2025 has no official ties to the Trump campaign. To limit the appearance of connection, Mr. Trump’s transition team has been excluding prominent people linked to Project 2025 from its preparations. Project 2025 additionally calls for the dismantling of the federal Education Department, which Mr. Trump has also pledged to do.

Howard Schnapp | Newsday | Getty ImagesThe tide could be turning for commercial real estate. That could give interest rate-sensitive sectors such as commercial real estate long-awaited positive momentum. While lower rates are not a "magic bullet," the easing of the Fed's monetary policy "lays the groundwork for a commercial real estate recovery," analysts wrote in a follow-up report in late September. More than $40 billion in transactions occurred during the second quarter, a 13.9% jump quarter over quarter, but still 9.4% lower year over year, according to real estate data intelligence firm Altus Group. While these dynamics could set the stage for a broader recovery, with some major subsectors such as commercial retail real estate picking up in tandem, the path forward will likely be uneven.

Including Detroit, Trump this year has pointedly attacked the most populous cities in three battleground states crucial to winning the White House: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Trump’s attacks risk offending swing voters who don’t share his dark view of their big cities, as well as Black voters his campaign is trying to sway in what’s expected to be a close election won on the margins. Thank you, sir, for saying it.’ They want help.”“These cities,” Trump added, “it’s like living in hell.”It’s not only large cities that Trump likes to vilify. A Republican close to Trump’s campaign argued that his attacks on cities aren’t insults but are, rather, a pledge to solve problems that most people who live in those regions recognize. Courting the Black voteMichigan was the site of Trump’s memorable 2016 call for Black voters to support his candidacy.

Apple announced a new iPad mini on Tuesday, offering the first update to its smallest tablet since 2021. The new iPad mini comes with a faster A17 Pro processor, the same chip that was in last year's iPhone 15 Pro. That means it supports Apple Intelligence, the company's new suite of artificial intelligence features that will slowly begin rolling out to users this month. Apple's smallest iPad has attracted a fanbase of users who appreciate its more portable 8.3-inch screen for reading books or taking notes. The iPad Mini supports the latest Apple Pencil Pro, which was introduced alongside the iPads Pro earlier this year.

Lawyers for Trump on Monday night again sought to move his hush-money case to federal court. An appellate brief reprises arguments from two failed attempts to move the case out of state court. AdvertisementLawyers for former President Donald Trump have filed a 99-page appellate brief seeking again to transfer his hush-money case to federal court. Trump's first attempt at what is called "removal" to federal court was made in May during his Manhattan trial. On Monday, Trump attorneys Todd Blanche and Emil Bove reprised their May and August arguments in appealing Hellerstein's decision, calling the hush-money case "an unprecedented and baseless prosecution."

Warren Buffett walks the floor and meets with Berkshire Hathaway shareholders ahead of their annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska on May 3rd, 2024. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway continued to increase its stake in SiriusXM , now owning 32% of the New York-based satellite radio company. Berkshire hiked its bet after billionaire John Malone's Liberty Media completed its deal in early September to combine its tracking stocks with the rest of the audio entertainment company. Buffett's firm first bought Liberty Media's trackers in 2016 and started piling into SiriusXM's tracking stocks in the beginning of 2024 after the deal announcement in a likely merger arbitrage play. Meanwhile, the Liberty transaction, which reduced share count by 12%, could cause the company to pause stock buybacks until 2027, which will likely weigh on shares, the analyst said.

Horror fans are calling the main character, Art the Clown, a new icon for the genre. Fans say the success of "Terrifier 3" has cemented its lead character, the demonic, mute serial killer Art the Clown, as a horror icon. Now, fans have hailed Art as a modern horror icon akin to other slasher villains such as Norman Bates, Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger. My horror hot take:Art the Clown is the first true horror icon to emerge thus far this century (Pennywise was already an icon under Tim Curry, and the “Saw” films have gone on without Jigsaw). He’s the horror icon we need right now.

Are we living through another Lamar Jackson MVP season? The Bears defense has also been phenomenal and will keep them in games even when Williams will inevitably struggle, as all rookies do. Full disclosure: One of my bold predictions entering the season was that Rattler would wind up taking Derek Carr’s job this season. The bigger concern is the Saints’ defense, which surrendered 600 yards and 50 points and allowed the Bucs to convert 6 of 10 third downs. It doesn’t matter who plays quarterback — the Saints defense has to put up some resistance.

Todd Graves' high-risk funding strategy for Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers was a bold gamble that almost cost him his dream. Today, the co-CEO and founder of Raising Cane's is worth an estimated $9.5 billion, according to Forbes, thanks to his over 90% ownership stake in the company. When he was growing the chain, Graves said he took out loans with private investors at a 15% interest rate. "I tell entrepreneurs, 'Don't do that,' because my dream almost just went away," Graves told the "Trading Secrets" podcast in May. Today, Graves makes sure his company has less than three dollars of debt for every dollar it owns, he told "Trading Secrets."
