CNN —Dwyane Wade’s status as a Miami Heat legend was further cemented on Sunday as the franchise unveiled an eight-foot statue of the three-time NBA champion. The 42-year-old played 16 seasons in the NBA and was selected as an All-Star 13 times before retiring in 2019. One comment on an Instagram video of the unveiling said that the statue better resembled Laurence Fishburne as ’Morpheus’ from the movie ‘The Matrix’ than Wade. Fans criticized the likeness of the statue although Wade himself didn't seem too bothered and was relishing the moment. Tyrese Haliburton led the way for the Pacers with 22 points but still looks a long way off last season’s form.

The Cleveland Browns pulled off a massive upset Sunday, defeating the Baltimore Ravens 29-24 behind a stellar performance from quarterback Jameis Winston. The Browns entered Week 8 with a 1-6 record, with quarterback Deshaun Watson last in the league in quarterback rating. And he responded by outdueling Ravens quarterback and MVP candidate Lamar Jackson, who had led his team to five straight wins before Sunday. Since he joined Cleveland in 2022, Watson has never thrown for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in the same game. The Browns improved to 2-6 with the victory, their first since they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 18-13 in Week 2.

NEW YORK — Shohei Ohtani is expected to play in Game 3 of the World Series, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Sunday. Ohtani was expected to receive an MRI before Game 3 to determine the severity of the shoulder injury he suffered in Game 2 on Saturday. Roberts said postgame that Ohtani had suffered a subluxation, which is a partial dislocation, of his left shoulder. Through two World Series games, the Dodgers have secured a 2-0 lead largely in spite of Ohtani, who has hit 1-for-8 as the team’s designated hitter. Ohtani became the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season with 54 and 59, respectively.

CNN —Brazilian soccer star Neymar made his return to the pitch more than a year after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee, playing 20 minutes for Al-Hilal on Monday. The 32-year-old was introduced as a substitute in the 77th minute of the team’s 5-4 AFC Champions League Elite win against Al Ain on Monday. “I’m so happy,” the Brazilian said to Al-Hilal’s media department following his return on Monday. Neymar controls the ball during the AFC Champions League Elite match between Al Ain and Al-Hilal on October 21. His contract with Al-Hilal, which is top of the league having won all seven of its games, expires in June 2025.
