AdvertisementRussia's interest rate hikes might not be an effective tool to fight inflation, the head of VTB bank said. The chief of VTB, Russia's second-largest bank, delivered the remarks after the Russian central bank raised its benchmark interest rate to 21% in October. High borrowing costs are the central bank's leading plan to curb stubborn price growth, with Russia's annual inflation rate approaching 8.7%. According to Carnegie Politika, it developed a proposal to give the government some oversight of monetary policy, pressuring the central bank to defend its approach. Axon Enterprise could be set up for continued gains in the months ahead, according to Morgan Stanley. Being open to living apart also widens the dating pool, particularly for older women. But for older couples, there's another appealing relationship setup: living apart, together — also known as "LAT." Ury said living apart, together has a ton of perks — particularly for older daters. AdvertisementBut for older daters who aren't looking to raise kids together, ticking off all those boxes is often less important. Living apart allows each person to live in their own world — and that can be a boon for a relationship.

Now it's worth much less, and it has been scrambling to solve a looming $124 million debt problem. That seems likely to come to a head this week, and may require the company to sell assets like "Hot Ones," its interview show. That's because today is the day that BuzzFeed could be on the hook for $123.5 million in debt and interest payments — money that it doesn't appear to have. AdvertisementIt is possible that BuzzFeed has a plan to deal with debt — by selling off assets, or renegotiating a deal with its creditors, or both. It's also worth noting that BuzzFeed doesn't necessarily have to pony up all $124 million today.

Frontier Airlines planes are parked at gates in Denver International Airport (DEN) in Denver, Colorado, on August 5, 2023. Frontier Airlines , one of the world's biggest budget airlines, is adding first-class seats. Starting in September, Frontier plans to start ripping out the first two rows of its three-by-three economy seats to add four first-class seats, in a two-by-two configuration. "While we have the lowest costs in the industry, we don't have the best revenue model," Biffle said in an interview. Biffle said the company's biggest gaps in its revenue model came from not offering first-class seats and not having enough rewards for its loyalty program members.

But Kremlin-affiliated and pro-war accounts aren't playing ball, independent Russian media reported. A new analysis found that only 10 of the top 82 political pro-government Telegram channels had registered. Nearly 90% of Russia's top pro-war Telegram channels have been ignoring a government directive to identify themselves in an official registry, per an analysis by independent media outlet Vertska. But the move was originally unpopular with pro-Kremlin military bloggers, who often maintain anonymity and sometimes post analyses and criticism of Russian war leaders. If you’ve been reading post-election coverage, you’ve probably seen one of the big takeaways from the returns so far: In counties across the country, Kamala Harris won many fewer votes than Joe Biden did four years ago. With the vast majority of votes counted, she has more than 74 million; Mr. Biden received more than 81 million four years ago. Donald J. Trump, in contrast, has 77 million votes, up from 74 million four years ago. The drop-off in Democratic vote tallies was largest in big cities. As such, it’s tempting to conclude that Democrats simply didn’t turn out this year — and that Ms. Harris might have won if they had voted in the numbers they did four years ago.

Sheriff Chad Chronister, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s pick to lead the Drug Enforcement Administration, withdrew his name from consideration for the office on Tuesday, only three days after he was nominated. Sheriff Chronister, who is in charge of the sheriff’s department in the Florida county that is home to Tampa, announced his withdrawal in a message on social media, saying that as “the gravity of this very important responsibility set in,” he had changed his mind about accepting the nomination. “There is more work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling,” he wrote. “I sincerely appreciate the nomination, outpouring of support by the American people, and look forward to continuing my service as Sheriff of Hillsborough County.”With 48 days still to go before Mr. Trump takes office, Sheriff Chronister is the second of Mr. Trump’s appointments to back out of a nomination. And a handful of other picks are facing potentially rocky paths in the Senate.
