On the campaign trail, both Trump and Kennedy have pitched a “Make America Healthy Again” movement. However, he wasn’t sure how Warp Speed would apply to childhood chronic diseases — or in what way Kennedy would be helpful. If the plan goes forward, Kennedy’s mandate would be an “all-of-government-project” and allow him to marshall resources from all of these agencies for childhood chronic disease. What’s still to be determined, Altman said, is how much — if any — authority the Warp Speed role would give Kennedy to command agencies such as the FDA or CDC. Trump transition co-chair Howard Lutnick also praised Kennedy in an interview with CNN Wednesday night, and questioned whether vaccines are actually safe.

Yet this season he is on pace to produce marks in passer rating, air yards per attempt, yards per passing attempt, quarterback rating, passing yards and interceptions that are better than in either of his previous MVP campaigns, in 2019 and 2023. Goff has been a model of efficiency, completing 74.1% of his passes while posting career bests in yards per attempt and passer rating. While other NFC contenders have struggled, Detroit looks arguably better than a season ago. By rushing for a league-leading 946 yards on 6.5 yards per carry — an incredible 1.1 yards more per rush than he averaged in that historic 2020 season — he’s taken pressure off of Jackson. A major character death at the end of "The Diplomat" season two throws a wrench into the series. Keri Russell's titular diplomat, Kate Wyler, now faces a more challenging path to the vice presidency. AdvertisementNetflix's "The Diplomat" is a blisteringly fun political drama that leans into the melodrama of international politics — and like in its first season, season two concludes with yet another cliffhanger season finale. As she unravels the conspiracy behind the aircraft attack, she also has to contend with Vice President Grace Penn (an excellent Allison Janney) showing up in London. CNN —People who only exercise on weekends have a similar risk of developing mild dementia to those who work out more frequently, a new study has found. A team of academics from Latin America and Europe set out to determine whether the frequency of exercise affects the risk of developing mild dementia. The finding led the team to conclude that 13% of cases of mild dementia could be avoided if all middle-aged people exercised at least once or twice a week. When compared with the group that did not exercise, the weekend warriors were 13% less likely to develop mild dementia, and those in the regular and combined groups were 12% less likely. I feel quite strongly that the weekend warriors around the world should be told that what they are doing is fine.”He added: “The weekend warrior research is starting to add up now.

TOLEDO, Ohio — An extraordinarily rare dime whose whereabouts had remained a mystery since the late 1970s has sold for just over $500,000. Three sisters from Ohio inherited the dime after the death of their brother, who had kept it in a bank vault for more than 40 years. The coin sold for $506,250 in an online auction that concluded Sunday, according to Ian Russell, president of GreatCollections, an auction house based in Irvine, California. The only other known example of the “1975 ‘no S’ proof dime” sold at a 2019 auction for $456,000 and then again months later to a private collector. The mint in San Francisco made more than 2.8 million special uncirculated “proof” sets in 1975 that featured six coins and were sold for $7.

Vietnam's long wait for emerging market status could soon be over. The Southeast Asian nation is currently classified as a frontier market and has been on the FTSE emerging market watchlist since 2018. An upgrade to emerging market status could see global funds pouring billions into Vietnam's financial market which currently has a market value just north of $200 billion. Speaking to CNBC's "Street Signs Asia" before the confirmation, Maybank Investment Bank Vietnam's Head of Equity Research Thanh Quan Trong said that the FTSE upgrade for Vietnam to emerging market status could come as early as September 2025. "We are seeing good progress in Vietnam fixing the regulatory bottlenecks to get the market upgraded to emerging market status," Trong told CNBC.

CFO turnover hit 8.9% globally during the period, surpassing levels in 2022 and 2023. A global pandemic, increased geopolitical tensions overseas, supply chain disruptions and recession concerns have made the CFO role even harder. Jim Cramer also has pounded the table of the importance of the CFO role, arguing that "a good CFO can give you a feeling of a Good Housekeeping seal of approval." Moving forward, it's unclear whether CFO turnover will continue to pickup. DNA testing has revealed that a skull found decades ago in the wall of an Illinois house belonged to an 18-year-old woman who died just after the American Civil War. How did the skull end up in a wall in Illinois when Granger's body was buried in Indiana? "Grave robbing was quite common in that era as it was quite profitable. While the practice was illegal, the law forbidding grave robbing was not always enforced, Russell said. It was hugely controversial as a result, with riots and even murders of alleged perpetrators following some suspected grave robbing incidents.

Esther Granger was identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office on Thursday as the woman whose skull was found in 1978, but she died more than 150 years earlier. The skull was turned back into the police and officials linked this skull to the 1978 report, which renewed the investigation. In 2023, Kane County officials contacted Othram, a Texas company that works on solving cold cases across the country, to assist with further DNA testing. Officials contacted Granger’s great-great grandson, Wayne Svilar, and he submitted his DNA for testing, which was a match, he said during Thursday’s news conference. There's a common belief that lower borrowing costs benefit so-called growth stocks, as they're often capital-intensive. "History also suggests value should outperform growth, at least over the six months following the first rate cut," he said. If the economic situation becomes a "hard-landing," however, he said that growth stocks could outperform. If it normalizes (i.e., becomes more upward sloping), value should outperform growth," he said, referring to a situation where short-term rates are lower than long-term rates. "Lower multiple value stocks have greater upside and less risk than the pricier 'glamor growth' group for the foreseeable future," Ball said.
