Barra's comments come a week after she raised concerns about GM hitting its North American EV production capacity target. The entire Buick brand has targeted being fully electric by 2030, as part of GM's plans to exclusively offer consumer EVs by 2035. GM previously announced plans for four of the multibillion-dollar plants in the U.S. by 2026. Barra on Tuesday said the company would grow cell production in a "meaningful cadence." GM CFO Paul Jacobson declined to discuss potential plans to delay or cancel the automaker's future EV battery cell plants, aside from the two facilities making cells in Ohio and Tennessee.

Investors can generate portfolio income and benefit from price appreciation in their stock holdings with an options strategy — provided they do it right. In addition, if the strike price is sufficiently higher than the current price, the initial investor can benefit from the appreciation in the meantime. For instance, if the underlying stock falls short of the strike price, the premium can provide some cushion on the downside. Then on Jan. 5, about six minutes and 16,000 feet into a packed flight out of Portland, Oregon, a door plug blew out of a nearly new Boeing 737 Max 9. The Federal Aviation Administration barred Boeing from increasing output of its Max planes and stepped up hands-on inspections at production plants. The 737 was dubbed "Baby Boeing" and went on to become the company's bestseller, helping to make Boeing the largest U.S. exporter. Pilots in those Boeing planes fought against a flight-control system, the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, that pushed the nose of the planes downward repeatedly. Boeing has said it aims to increase rates to about 50 Max planes a month in the next few years.

Analysts at Morgan Stanley designated Apple their top pick, raised their price target to $273 a share and reiterated their buy-equivalent rating. Apple Intelligence, however, represents an entirely new technology with the potential change how we all interact with our devices. And notably, replacement cycles are at an all-time high of 4.8 years, Morgan Stanley estimated. So, the reason to upgrade is going to be Apple Intelligence, a better camera, plus whatever other incremental upgrades we learn about later this year. Both Loop and Morgan Stanley said the AI-driven replacement cycle will lead to an increase in the average selling price of iPhones.
