Rapper Ye tore into Adidas in several Instagram posts on Monday evening, accusing his old sponsor-partner of selling "fake" Yeezys when the sportswear brand released a new version of the sneakers. This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers. In a separate video post, Ye claimed that Adidas is suing him for $250 million and of "using contract clauses and 50 years of business experience to rape an artist." "I AM ADIDAS ADIDAS RAPED AND STOLE MY DESIGNS," Ye's Instagram caption partially said. Ye, the rapper and provocateur formerly known as Kanye West, has the No. 1 album for a second week with “Vultures 1,” narrowly beating out a new release from the Oregon rapper Yeat. He released “Vultures 1” independently and promoted the album with a pair of well-attended listening events at arenas in Chicago and Long Island. It is Ye’s first album to spend more than a single week at No. According to an estimate computed by Billboard, “Vultures 1” earned about $1 million in its first week from sales and streams in the United States alone.

US law enforcement officials have also been closely monitoring the incident to determine if a federal crime was committed, a senior US official familiar with the matter told CNN. Tom Brenner/ReutersA longtime political consultant, Kramer worked for Kanye West’s 2020 presidential bid and has a history of producing robocalls. Phillips’ campaign said it had no knowledge of his reported involvement with the AI Biden call. He said that Kramer told him to delete all of the emails between the two of them, and that he did. As figures at the center of American political scandals go, Carpenter is certainly “eccentric” – a word he uses to describe himself.

Though Ozzy Osbourne left Black Sabbath in 1979, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, told Billboard any songs the band wrote — Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — require the approval of all four members to license. Regardless of the social media feud, legal experts say if true, the unauthorized use of the samples would be a “clear-cut” case of copyright infringement. He didn't dispute it,” entertainment attorney Donald M. Woodard of Carter and Woodard told Business Insider. AdvertisementOsbourne's recent objection to West's sample would be considered a new copyright claim, as the license for use does not permit West to sample the song in perpetuity. In 2022, Chicago artist Marshall Jefferson accused the rapper of using his song “Move Your Body” in the West song “Flowers” without permission.

Ye, the rapper, producer and provocateur formerly known as Kanye West, has what will likely be the No. 1 album on next week’s Billboard chart, with “Vultures 1.” But on Thursday, the LP disappeared from Apple Music, one of the world’s top streaming platforms. The reason was unclear, and Apple gave no explanation. But the removal came a few hours after an independent distribution outlet complained that its system had been used to release the music in violation of its service terms. It also remained unclear whether — and how soon — Ye’s album might return to Apple, perhaps through another distributor.

On Monday Mr. Posen, 43, whose namesake brand ceased operations in 2019, was announced as the new creative director of Gap Inc. and the new chief creative officer of Old Navy. The designer known for pieces that evoke Golden Age Hollywood will “serve as cultural curator and creative partner,” Richard Dickson, the president and chief executive of Gap Inc., said in a news release. Nor is he the first star talent to be awarded a fancy title at Gap. Predecessors have included Patrick Robinson, who after a four-year stint was dismissed in 2011 and, more controversially, Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, whose Yeezy Gap partnership ended amid a scandal in 2022. And yet, the company still seems willing to bank on a “name” to help burnish its image.

When Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, the fashion editor-personality who became famous as the first Black woman to style a Vogue cover (in 2021) and even more famous after she got into a social media brouhaha with Kanye West, was interviewing for her first big fashion job at Vogue, she ended up, not surprisingly, in front of Anna Wintour. Ms. Wintour asked Ms. Karefa-Johnson where she wanted to be in 10 years. Ms. Karefa-Johnson answered — as Ms. Wintour once had, when asked a similar question — editor in chief of Vogue. Almost exactly a decade later, Ms. Karefa-Johnson doesn’t necessarily want that any more. “I resigned as kind of a material action of solidarity and because it was just time for me to move on,” Ms. Karefa-Johnson, 32, said recently.

Adidas announced on Wednesday that it won't write off the majority of its unsold Yeezy inventory and instead plans to sell the remaining shoes "at least" at the cost it paid for them, as the apparel retailer looks to recoup its losses. The company attributed the profit to its "better-than-expected operational business" during its fourth quarter and the decision to sell the majority of the remaining Yeezy inventory. Instead, the company plans to sell the remaining Yeezy product at least at cost in 2024," Adidas said in a news release. CEO Bjørn Gulden added: "Our consumer, retail and trade research has shown that we can sell this remaining inventory in 2024 for at least the cost price. It's not clear if Adidas will donate any portion of the remaining Yeezy sales.

It’s the first time his Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS) is buying an ad during the “most visible platform,” which last year was watched by 113 million viewers and was the third most-watched television program of all time. According to FCAS research, 183 million posts on social media were related to antisemitism and Jewish culture in 2023 — a 330% increase from the prior year.
