Dec 1 (Reuters) - Investigators have concluded that a train that caught fire in Russia's longest tunnel on Wednesday was blown up in a "terrorist act" by unidentified individuals, the Kommersant newspaper reported on Friday. At 9.5 miles (15.3 km) long, the tunnel on the Baikal-Amur Mainline railway is Russia's longest, excluding urban underground railway tunnels. Preliminary findings suggested that explosives had been placed beneath the train, Kommersant cited a source as saying. Reuters could not independently verify whether the rail route is used for military supplies. Russian Railways had said the train was stopped when smoke was spotted coming from a tank containing diesel fuel.

Unlike most of its Western allies and some Gulf states, Turkey does not view Hamas as a terrorist group and hosts some of its members. Nelson said Turkey was connected to Hamas' past efforts to raise funds from donors, investment portfolios, charities and non-profit organisations. Russian air defense shot down over 30 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and the Crimean peninsula overnight Saturday, Russia's Defense Ministry said Sunday. "The air defense systems in place destroyed 36 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the Black Sea and the northwestern part of the Crimean peninsula," the ministry wrote on Telegram. Local authorities in the southern Krasnodar region bordering the Black Sea said that a fire broke out at an oil refinery in the early hours of Sunday, but did not specify the cause. In Ukraine, the country's air force said Sunday it had shot down five Iranian-made Shahed exploding drones launched by Russia overnight.
