True to form, Fauci used his final press briefing to strongly encourage Americans to get COVID vaccines and booster shots, and touted the effectiveness of masks, all of which became partisan totems in the United States. Former Vice President Mike Pence said voters will "have better choices" for a presidential candidate than Donald Trump, who announced his third bid for the office on Tuesday night from his Mar-a-Lago resort. "I think we’ll have better choices in the future," Pence told ABC's David Muir. Pence's latest comments come after months of distancing himself from Trump over his actions on Jan. 6. Shopify asked employees to weigh in on their work, coworkers, and managers in its semiannual survey. In a company-wide survey sent out last week, Shopify asked employees a series of 60 questions focused on its workplace culture, worker productivity, and competition in the-ecommerce world. Called "Pulse" internally, the survey is sent out twice a year, a Shopify spokesperson said. The company spokesperson said that the survey responses would be confidential and reported only in aggregate to Shopify's leadership team. But the Amazon question comes as the rivalry between Shopify and Amazon has been heating up.

A new analysis suggests that if more people in the United States get their booster by the end of the year, about 90,000 Covid-19 deaths could be prevented this fall and winter. But if booster vaccinations continue at their current pace, the nation could see a peak of more than 1,000 Covid-19 deaths per day this winter, according to the study, published Wednesday by The Commonwealth Fund. There are now more than 400 daily Covid-19 deaths, on average, in the United States. Federal health officials have said that Americans may need to get a single updated Covid-19 vaccination every year.

Parler is a social media app that attracted conservatives with its minimal content moderation policy. Google said that it was reinstated because the app has improved its content moderation. Now, the social media company that touts itself as a "premier global free speech platform" will be stepping up its content moderation rules. "As we've long stated, apps are able to appear on Google Play provided they comply with Play's developer policies," the spokesperson said. The social media app was also removed from Apple's app store and Amazon's web hosting services after the Capitol riot, effectively taking it offline for a month before it found a new web host.
