CNN —Sydney has been officially elevated to the ranks of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, becoming the seventh city to join the prestigious series. Starting in 2025, the Sydney Marathon will become the first major marathon in the Southern Hemisphere as it joins elite races in Boston, New York, Chicago, London, Berlin and Tokyo. Abbott World Marathon Majors CEO Dawna Stone said she was “thrilled” that Sydney will become the seventh major, while complimenting the hard work of the race’s organizers. In September, a record 20,272 runners finished the race, helping it clear its second consecutive assessment to become an Abbott World Marathon Major. The 2025 Sydney Marathon is scheduled for August 31, with more than 33,000 runners expected to participate, according to the New South Wales government.

Candace Fails screamed for someone in the Texas hospital to help her pregnant daughter. Fails, who would have seen her daughter turn 20 this Friday, still cannot understand why Crain’s emergency was not treated like an emergency. Passed nearly four decades ago, it requires emergency rooms to stabilize patients in medical crises. Eight years earlier, the Texas Medical Board found that he had failed to diagnose appendicitis in one patient and syphilis in another. Last year, he sent a letter threatening to prosecute a doctor who had received court approval to provide an emergency abortion for a Dallas woman.

Bank of America shares the top eight cities people are moving to for cheaper rent. The rent hikes are driving people to move to cheaper areas, according to Bank of America. That discrepancy between Bank of America's data and the official rate of rent inflation indicates that people are moving to find more affordable rent instead of staying put, the bank said. Then, while there is a "chief AI officer" role that's picking up, there is also a lot of focus on automation. CNN has reached out to Terada for comment on the R-FBI’s role in Russian disinformation efforts, and ties to the state. Storm-1516 and R-FBI network members have spread at least 54 different disinformation narratives online since August 2023, according to Clemson and CNN’s analysis. “Does anyone believe that an American would be the spearhead of what some call the biggest Russian Disinformation operation since the cold war? TelegramAnother prominent figure in propagating Russian disinformation is American Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer who in 2020 accused then-presidential candidate Joe Biden of sexual harassment. Self-harm: Why it happens and how to treat it

Editor’s Note: This story contains details of self-harm that some readers may find upsetting or triggering. She had just recently learned about self-harm after asking a friend about her many bandages and long sleeves. In 2019 there were 363,000 emergency department visits for self-harm, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Self-harm can also be a form of self-punishment among those feeling guilt or shame and thus like they deserve physical pain. You should of course use common sense and not let someone have their self-harm toolkit in their bedroom, for example, Whitlock added.

An eighth-inning rally capped by sacrifice flies by second baseman Gavin Lux and outfielder Mookie Betts put the Dodgers in front. This title, the eighth in franchise history, can stand beside the Dodgers’ trophy from the pandemic-shortened season in 2020. The precedent feels preposterous until you consider the current Dodgers who will one day join them in the Hall of Fame. “Mark,” he told Freeman, “wants to win really bad.” That desire became clear to Ohtani when he met with the Dodgers. After Freeman launched his grand, Gibsonian walkoff in Game 1 against the Yankees, the Dodgers got the job done.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, more and more hotels are happy to show off their spookier side as a result. “They ditched the [premise of], ‘Oh, people may be scared,’ and said, ‘Wow, people will come and I can market it, so we’re a haunted hotel,’” said Melchiorri. The inspiration for Stephen King’s novel-turned-film “The Shining,” the 420-room grande dame, whose imposing facade is nearly as dramatic as its Rocky Mountains backdrop, is arguably the world’s most famous haunted hotel. CNN —The owner of two Boston-area pizza shops has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for subjecting employees to years of violence and intimidation, according to prosecutors. In June, he was convicted on three counts of forced labor and three counts of attempted forced labor. Authorities discovered that Papantoniadis operated his pizza shops with a skeletal staff, forced workers to perform grueling shifts of 14 hours or more, often seven days a week. Papantoniadis violently choked a worker who expressed his intention to quit, causing the victim to flee in fear, investigators found. “Today’s significant sentence sends a message to employers — employees deserve to work in safety, free from harassment and abuse.”
