Cisco Systems – Shares tumbled nearly 11% after the digital communications company offered worse-than-expected guidance for the current quarter and full year. That pulled attention away from a strong report for the fiscal first quarter, with Cisco beating the consensus forecasts of analysts polled by LSEG on both lines. Maxeon Solar Technologies – Shares slipped 7% after posting a bigger loss than expected in the third quarter. The solar company beat analyst expectations for revenue in the quarter, but issued a weaker-than-anticipated revenue outlook for both the current quarter and full year. While Gambling.com, a review site of gambling services, beat expectations on both lines for the third quarter, it left its full-year expectations unchanged.

In a Wednesday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora said demand remains high even though the company issued a weaker billings forecast than expected. The cybersecurity company reported its first-quarter earnings after Wednesday's close, topping Wall Street's revenue targets. However, weak billings guidance caused the stock to slide nearly 6% in after-hours trading. He also suggested billings guidance may not be the most important metric for Wall Street to consider. "Billings is an indicator of revenue in the future, and the better indicator of revenue in the future is RPO, remaining performance obligations, which we grew at 26%."

With November about halfway through, the S&P 500 is up more than 7% for the month, while the Dow has advanced nearly 6%. Frank Borman , an American astronaut who circled the moon in 1968 and had what might have seemed like an even bumpier ride as chief executive of Eastern Airlines in the 1970s and 1980s, died Tuesday in Billings, Mont. He was 95 years old. Jim McCarthy, a spokesman for the family, said Borman had a stroke Tuesday morning at a retirement community and was pronounced dead at the Billings Clinic.

Apollo 8 carried three astronauts farther from Earth than anyone had ever traveled. It orbited the lunar surface 10 times, flying nearly 60 miles above its surface, to photograph a bleak and rock-strewn terrain, seeking potential landing spots for the moonwalks to come. Mr. Borman, who never set foot on the moon — and by his own account had no desire to do so — flew in space twice. In December 1965, he commanded the two-man Gemini 7 spacecraft on a 14-day flight that set what was then a record for time spent in space. Gemini 7 rendezvoused with Gemini 6A as it orbited Earth, a significant step toward perfecting a similar maneuver that would be required when astronauts reached the moon.
