It’s time to pick health coverage for next year on the Affordable Care Act’s insurance marketplaces, and experts caution against focusing your choice on price alone. Here are some things to consider when assessing marketplace plans. Many people who haven't shopped on the marketplace don’t know that they can get this help, according to Jeremy Smith, who directs West Virginia’s health insurance navigator program. “They’re just used to having health coverage … and it covers everything.”Plans also can come with annual out-of-pocket maximums higher than $9,000 for individuals and $18,000 for families. “The good news is a lot of people who’ve been in Medicaid will likely qualify for these cost-sharing reductions,” said Sabrina Corlette, co-director of Georgetown University’s Center on Health Insurance Reforms.

To find the most and least safe places in the United States, a new study by WalletHub scored 182 cities (including at least two of the largest in each state) across three categories of metrics. The “home and community safety” category examined crime statistics, police and rescue workers per capita, traffic and pedestrian safety, among other data. “Financial safety” scored each city on employment, job security, credit ratings, savings rates and the like. For natural disasters, the capital city of Dover, Del. Two cities in “Tornado Alley,” Oklahoma City and Wichita, Kan., had the highest risks for natural disasters, followed by six cities in California.

(AP) — A Kansas police chief who led an August raid on a small weekly newspaper seemed to have the support of most city leaders in the weeks since the search, despite public outcry and calls for his resignation. Ryanair said in a statement that it had expected to receive delivery of 27 aircraft between September and December. (AP) — Kansas will no longer change transgender people's birth certificates to reflect their gender identities, the state health department said Friday, citing a new law that prevents the state from legally recognizing those identities. The decision from the state Department of Health and Environment makes Kansas one of a handful of states that won't change transgender people's birth certificates. They came in response to court filings by conservative Republican state Attorney General Kris Kobach to enforce the new state law. Under the conservative Republicans who were governor before Kelly, transgender residents also couldn’t change their birth certificates. A federal judge signed off on a settlement agreement requiring the state to change transgender people’s birth certificates.

Linda Gregory died a few hours before Friday's game, her husband Mel Gregory announced on Facebook. The 69-year-old woman had fallen backward and struck her head on concrete while taking pictures Sept. 4 at the junior varsity matchup between Wichita Northwest High School and rival Bishop Carroll High. “I was back on the sidelines tonight to watch Linda Gregory being honored with many tributes. A small town in Kansas has become a battleground over the First Amendment, after the local police force and county sheriff’s deputies raided the office of the Marion County Record. Raids of news organizations are exceedingly rare in the United States, with its long history of legal protections for journalists. At the Record, a family-owned paper with a circulation of about 4,000, the police seized computers, servers and cellphones of reporters and editors. They also searched the home of the publication’s owner and semiretired editor as well as the home of a city councilwoman. The searches, conducted on Friday, appeared to be linked to an investigation into how a document containing information about a local restaurateur found its way to the local newspaper — and whether the restaurant owner’s privacy was violated in the process.
