The hot new dating-app trend: matchmaking

Several new "matchmaking" dating apps have launched in the past year, addressing dating-app fatigue. Sitch, an AI-powered matchmaking app launched in New York in November. The current trend of new matchmaking apps generally splits into two categories: Either the users themselves are doing the matchmaking, or the app (typically built with AI) is matching users directly. Related storiesLoop, founded by siblings Lian and Adam Zucker, is a "matchmaking app where everyone can set up their single friends," Lian said. Sitch"We've tried to replicate the exact human flow of matchmaking," Sitch cofounder Nandini Mullaji — who has experience in matchmaking friends of friends IRL — told BI.

So if we want to go beyond a certain number at Heathrow, whether that is 90 million passengers or anything around that, we need a third runway, that's not a discussion," Woldbye said. 'We' here is not just Heathrow, that's the airlines, it's government, it's parliament, it's everybody around us. But transportation strategy is a government issue," Woldbye said, acknowledging it was "not an easy decision." I'm serious about getting a decision and about getting the right decision," which would be one guided by overall U.K. strategy, he said.

AdvertisementDuring his first term, Trump threatened tariffs while renegotiating trade with Mexico and Canada. Scott Bessent, Trump's pick for Treasury secretary, has called tariffs a "negotiating tool." In June of 2019, Trump threatened tariffs against Mexico if the country didn't alter its immigration system, which it eventually did. While financial analysts are taking Trump's threats seriously, some banking leaders seem to think that Trump's most recent tariff threat is a continuation of his prior negotiation tactic. And while these larger social media platforms still dwarf Bluesky, the startup now has more than 22 million users and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Bluesky had experienced a previous surge in July 2023 after X, then still named Twitter, temporarily limited the number of posts users could read per day. Just days before Musk officially took over Twitter, the Bluesky team publicly unveiled more details about their project and rolled out a waitlist for the Bluesky app. Despite Bluesky starting as a side project within Twitter, the startup has lost its last connection to the original micro-blogging app. Bluesky is looking for ways to support the users "who are actually the ones making the network awesome and fun," Wang said.

Escaping the 'Perfection Trap'
  + stars: | 2024-11-26 | by ( Sponsored Ibm | ) www.businessinsider.com   time to read: +5 min
Many organizations experimenting with AI may find themselves stuck in a "perfection trap," reluctant to deploy anything less than 100% complete. This widespread hesitation to move forward can hinder AI progress — and very few organizations have moved beyond the experimentation phase. Roughly 80% of surveyed AI leaders report data-related challenges, including governance concerns. By avoiding the perfection trap, leaders can foster sustained innovation and maximize the value of their AI investments. By corporate America's (sometimes dubious) telling, AI is basically the answer to everything, including customer service. A recent Gartner survey found that nearly two-thirds of customers prefer that companies don't use AI for customer service. Chipmaker Intel and the CHIPS Act Office are close to finalizing a deal which would award the company a roughly $8 billion grant, according to a person familiar with the matter, as the Biden administration moves to dole out funds before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration. The U.S. awarded Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. a $6.6 billion grant earlier this month, raising investor expectations that cash funding for Intel would come soon. Intel has benefited from CHIPS Act tax breaks but has not yet received cash awards, something which Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has expressed dissatisfaction with. "We're frustrated that hasn't moved faster," Gelsinger told CNBC in October, referring to the CHIPS Act grants. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson had previously said he might look to repeal the bipartisan CHIPS Act, but he then walked back those comments.
