That's almost 40% of U.S. solar panel capacity, according to figures from the Solar Energy Industries Association. Political Cartoons View All 1211 ImagesIndustry jitters about a flood of cheap solar panels from overseas show how dependent on federal policy the solar industry remains. Even with that boost, solar industry leaders warn, factories will struggle to compete with a new spike in cheap Asian imports. They're again urging federal officials to investigate whether solar panels are being dumped at unfairly low prices. Politics envelops the solar industry.

Mysterious gold foil figures found in Norway

The tiny pieces — intricately detailed gold foil figures discovered during excavations of a pagan religious temple — are a rare find in Norway. A total of 35 gold foil figures have been found at the Hov temple site. The remains of the Hov temple were uncovered in 1993 along with two gold figures. The five latest pieces uncovered were buried under the temple's walls and within post holes of the structure, leading researchers to believe the gold figures were placed there intentionally. The gold foils were pressed into a stamp dye made of bronze, similar to the process of making a coin, according to Watt.

Australia seeks separate dialogue on China wine dispute

REUTERS/Florence Lo/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSYDNEY, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Australia wants a separate dialogue with China on their dispute over wine, the agriculture minister said on Sunday, rejecting Beijing's proposal to link wine with other trade issues as the two nations slowly seek to improve battered relations. China's removal of tariffs last month on Australian barley has raised hopes for an easing of wine tariffs, in place since 2021, which have hammered the country's wine exports. China on Thursday proposed a "packaged solution" that would tie the wine dispute to those about duties on Australian imports of Chinese railway wheels, wind towers and stainless steel sinks, state news agency Xinhua reported. China was Australia's top wine export market before COVID, peaking at A$1.2 billion ($770 million) for the 12 months to January 2020 when the pandemic hit.

Bank of America thinks Array Technologies is a growth story investors shouldn't miss. The firm reiterated a buy rating on the solar tracking company with a $30 per share price target and added Array to its US 1 list on Tuesday. Analyst Julien Dumoulin-Smith labeled Array stock as a standout "in a sector lacking confidence," and said the company is a "margin story with a growth option with both still underappreciated." The analyst added that as tightening credit and rising interest rates create a volatile market, Array presents an attractive buying opportunity. "We suspect investor preference for structural growth stories with minimal interest rate exposure will persist," he said.

The Rolling Stones Start Up Again

For the band members, the most crucial part of the Rolling Stones sound is what Richards calls “weaving” — the ever-changing, spur-of-the-moment interplay between the instruments, particularly the guitars. The band recorded the core of most of the songs together in the studio, playing off one another as they would onstage. Of course we have disagreements about how things should be, but I think that’s pretty normal. And that’s a matter of rhythm.”The Stones groove got its foundation from Watts, who died at 80. “There would have been a Rolling Stones without Charlie Watts, but without Charlie Watts there wouldn’t have been the Rolling Stones,” Richards said.

I found a great solution in the EcoFlow Delta 1300 Portable Power Station. With a 1,260-watt-hour capacity, which is nearly 50 times as much power as those portable power banks, and enough ports to power 13 devices at once, it fit my needs and my budget. A portable power station doesn’t promise full glamping, but it does help maintain a baseline of comfort for a small group. It’s the company’s lightest and lowest-price portable power station, packing 882 watt hours of power and only three fewer ports into a 23.6-pound package. I bought this power station with pessimistic emergency preparedness in mind.

At a semiconductor technology conference held at Stanford University in Silicon Valley, Intel said its "Sierra Forest" chip will have 240% better performance per watt than its current generation of data center chip, the first time the company has disclosed such figures. That has pushed chip companies to focus on how to get more computing work done per chip. Ampere Computing, a startup founded by ex-Intel executives, was first to market with a chip focused on handling cloud computing work efficiently. Intel, which has lost market share to AMD and Ampere in data centers, said on Monday its "Sierra Forest" chip is on track to arrive next year. The company is for the first time splitting its data center chips into two categories: A "Granite Rapids" chip that will focus on performance but consume more power, and the more efficient "Sierra Forest" chip.

iPhone 15 could have faster charging

New York CNN —Apple’s fall product launch next month is all but certain to include a new iPhone, and rumors say it could include faster charging. According to 9to5Mac, a tech blog with a solid track record on Apple rumors, the next iPhone will switch from Apple’s Lightning charging port to the more widespread USB-C and at least some models will support faster charging speeds. The iPhone 15 could be compatible with a 35-watt charger, allowing the device to charge faster. Apple recommends iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users avoid charging with any wired chargers over 27 watts, and iPhone 14 users limit their chargers to 20 watts. In March, 9to5Mac performed a battery tests on the S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max and found the latter won out.

A hundred times I have been told that LED bulbs, with their unnatural froideur and their sour green aura, can now simulate all manner of glow. They come with labels like soft white and bright white, cool white and daylight. and the waiting room in the E.R. I’m hardly the first person to notice that LED light simply looks bad. I associate that jolly warmth with late-night phone calls, books read after bedtime, the privacy of my own well-lit room.

Brady joins the likes of Jordan Spieth, JJ Watt, and LeBron James by buying into English football. Former NFL star Watt bought a minority stake in Burnley FC, in May. Now, legendary quarterback Brady has unveiled a minority stake in Birmingham City. The rise of across-the-pond partnerships raises a question: what is it about British clubs that has suddenly captured celebrities' imagination? The rewards for success in the English Premier League can be astronomical.

On Tuesday, the Biden administration put the final nail in the coffin for incandescent light bulbs, the result of a decade-plus-long legislative path. A rule requiring the minimum standard efficiency of 45 lumens per watt for light bulbs effectively bans halogen and incandescent bulbs. Not all light bulbs are included in the ban. Exceptions include a whole slew of specific light bulb implications, including appliance lamps, black light lamps, bug lamps, colored lamps, general service fluorescent lamps, marine lamps, marine signal service lamps, mine service lamps, sliver bowl lamps, showcase lamps, and traffic signal lamp, to name a few. Also, while the 45 lumens per watt energy efficiency standard was being phased in, in December the Biden administration kickstarted the process to consider increasing the energy efficiency standard for light bulbs to over 120 lumens per watt for the most common bulbs.

New York CNN —America’s ban on incandescent light bulbs, 16 years in the making, is finally a reality. That effectively outlaws the manufacture and sale of common incandescent bulbs, the kind you screw into the vast majority of light sockets in your home. That’s because traditional incandescent bulbs provide just 15 lumens per watt, according to light bulb manufacturer Philips. Not all incandescent light bulbs are banned as part of the new rule, according to the Department of Energy. The ban caps off a decades-long bipartisan effort to ban incandescent bulbs that started in the Bush administration.

SYDNEY, July 31 (Reuters) - Indonesia has paused live cattle imports from four Australian facilities after lumpy skin disease (LSD) was detected in a small number of cattle some time after arrival, the Australian government said. Australia is free of LSD and cattle exports to Indonesia continues from other facilities, Watt said. Given the presence of LSD in Indonesia, positive results in cattle after reaching Indonesia were not unexpected, Australia's Chief Veterinary Officer Mark Schipp said. Indonesia is the largest market for Australian live cattle exports, accounting for about 56% in 2021–22, data showed, worth about A$900 million ($600 million).
