The super PAC, Future Coalition PAC, also ran other ads that highlight the Jewish faith of Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, including ads that have leaned on antisemitic “dual loyalty” tropes about Jewish Americans. The first two clips used in the new Harris ad come from Harris’ remarks after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in July, four days after President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t seek another term in office. The majority of the nine ZIP codes in the Harris ad campaign are represented by Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib in Congress. The Harris campaign did not comment on its ad strategy. Harris addressed the issue during remarks Tuesday at a discussion with the National Association of Black Journalists.

Russian disinformation peddlers are producing videos targeting the Harris-Walz campaign with false and disparaging claims, Microsoft said Tuesday. At least three Russian disinformation actors have been working to denigrate the Harris-Walz campaign, Microsoft said. Some of the disinformation comes in the form of two videos that have been disseminated since late August, Microsoft said. NBC News has viewed an upload of that video posted to X, which Microsoft confirmed is the alleged Russian disinformation. The report comes after the U.S. accused the Kremlin of running a multifaceted disinformation campaign to boost former President Donald Trump and disparage Harris.

The vote was 51-44, falling short of the 60 needed to break a filibuster, with Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine again voting with Democrats in favor of the bill. Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., dismissed it as “another show vote” and vowed that “Republicans support IVF, full stop.”“This is not an attempt to make law. She predicted that Democrats would “lift the filibuster” to get around the 60-vote requirement, which would require 50 senators to vote to change the rules. Trump Media breached an agreement with one of the investors that helped the company go public, and must grant the investor a larger share of its stock, a judge ruled. After DWAC merged with Trump Media, those Class B shares were supposed to automatically convert to Class A stock at a 1:1 ratio. Analysts have come to see indivual investments in Trump Media as a proxy for supporting the Republican presidential nominee and betting on his political fortunes. (The poll was conducted last week, before Sunday’s apparent assassination attempt against Trump.) What makes the Selzer survey so important is that it’s been accurate in an era when other pollsters have struggled. This Selzer poll could also be an outlier, and much could change between now and Election Day. But the current poll is a far better result than the previous Selzer survey from June – when Biden was still in the race. The bottom line: You’d much rather have the Selzer poll in your corner than not.

TOKYO — Japan’s government and people cheered the record trophy haul for period drama “Shogun” at the Emmy Awards as yet another win for their history and culture, which are becoming increasingly popular with tourists and international audiences alike. Another Japanese period piece, “Blue Eye Samurai,” won an Emmy for the best animated program. Davis, whose group is running the ads, has echoed the charges from Trump and insisted that the federal government isn't doing enough to stop noncitizens from voting. WASHINGTON — Congress is considering boosting funding for the Secret Service after what the FBI called an apparent second attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life in 10 weeks. "Nobody's going to want to deny the Secret Service the funding that it needs as long as it justifies it." And Sen. Trump won the presidency in 2016 by stunning Democrat Hillary Clinton to win all three states by a combined margin of about 80,000 votes. But, as in other states, Democrats have been concerned about the risk of depressed turnout and some gains for Trump among Black voters in Philadelphia. Eight years later, the two states split again, when Roosevelt comfortably won Pennsylvania and Michigan narrowly went to Republican Wendell Willkie. This trio of states has arguably become the most consistent tipping point in American politics. In the nine elections since 1920 when they split their vote, the candidate who carried two of these three states won seven times.

CNN —One of the best pollsters in America recently came out with its latest survey, and it’s good news for Kamala Harris. That result fell well short of the lead he had in preelection state polling. The fact that the Selzer poll is indicating a similar shift in Harris’ favor in Iowa makes me think the Wisconsin polls may be on to something. CNN —Ex-President Donald Trump responded to a second apparent assassination attempt that he blames on incendiary political rhetoric by inflaming the situation even more. He accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inviting assassins to target him when they warn that he is a threat to democracy. But Trump’s claims that Biden and Harris bear direct culpability underscore the extreme nature of his own political instincts. Biden and Trump had a telephone conversation, and the president conveyed his relief that his erstwhile rival was safe. And when he refused to concede that he lost the 2020 election, Trump called supporters to Washington, DC, and told them to “fight like hell” or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.

Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump attends a press conference at Trump National Golf Club, in Rancho Palos Verdes, U.S., September 13, 2024. Recent polls of the state mostly show Trump down by double digits against Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Asked for clarification on Trump's social media post, and specifically whether he is vowing to end the SALT cap he signed into law, the Republican's campaign did not provide a direct answer. The SALT cap and other tax provisions of the 2017 tax law are set to expire at the end of 2025. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget argues that repealing the SALT cap "would be costly, distortionary, and regressive."
