A strategic devaluation of China’s currency, which is tightly controlled by the country’s central bank, could allow Beijing to supercharge its powerful export machine. I have been monitoring the spread of bird flu, also known as H5N1, and discussing the situation with colleagues around the country. In addition, a child in Alameda County in California with minor respiratory symptoms tested positive for H5N1 recently; it is unclear how the child became infected.

CNN —President-elect Donald Trump announced Jamieson Greer as his pick to serve as the next US trade representative. Greer is no stranger to the role, having served as chief of staff to the trade representative during Trump’s first term, Robert Lighthizer.
