NEW YORK (AP) — British billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family trust owns the Tottenham Hotspur soccer club, pleaded guilty Wednesday to insider trading and conspiracy charges in New York. The 86-year-old businessman entered the plea in Manhattan federal court six months after he was charged in the case. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said the plea deal includes the largest financial penalty for insider trading in a decade. Broad Bay Limited, which Lewis owns, will pay more than $50 million in financial penalties, the prosecutor said in a release. Federal sentencing guidelines call for a prison sentence of between 18 and 24 months, though Lewis can seek less than that.

Amid all the excitement and extra attention, Dunlap has decided to pull out from this week’s Farmers Insurance Open in order to return home. “After a life changing last 24 hours, I’ve decided to withdraw from the Farmers Insurance Open,” he said in a statement, sent via the PGA Tour, on Monday. Sunday’s win now qualifies Dunlap to turn professional at any point and join the 2024 PGA Tour with automatic membership through the 2026 season, according to PGATour.com. “I don’t know,” Dunlap told PGA Tour Radio when asked whether the win would accelerate his journey to becoming professional.

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — Scottie Scheffler made two eagles on Saturday in his round of 7-under 65 that gave the No. Scheffler contending at Woods' tournament in the Bahamas is nothing new — he has been runner-up to Viktor Hovland each of the last two years. Woods being out of the mix is also not unusual, mainly because he typically is recovering from injuries. This is his fifth time playing in the Bahamas, and only once has he finished within 10 shots of the winner. CNN —Tiger Woods had a much improved second round at the Hero World Challenge on Friday, shooting a two-under-par 70 as he continued on his golfing comeback. Woods, making his highly anticipated return to golf after a lengthy layoff, got off to a brilliant start on day two and looked to be flying up the leaderboard. However, like the first round, Woods stumbled towards the back end of his 18 with three bogeys before closing it out with a birdie on the final hole. The 15-time major winner ended the day on one-over par after his second round and in 15th on the leaderboard. “Better than yesterday for sure,” Woods said after his improved showing on day two.

Woods shot 39 on the back in the opening round, and he shot 38 on Friday with a 30-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th. For Woods, there wasn't a great mystery why he wasn't finishing better. His putt was too firm, racing by the hole, off the green and back into the bunker. Woods once hit a putt off the 13th green into a tributary of Rae's Creek at the Masters. Woods was five shots better than his opening round, though still out of the mix for now in 15th place in the 20-man field.
