DENVER (AP) — Patrick Mahomes was added to the Kansas City Chiefs' injury report Sunday with flu-like symptoms, but the team said he'll still start against the Denver Broncos. Patrick Mahomes is 12-0 against the Broncos, whom the Chiefs have defeated 16 consecutive times going back to 2015. Mahomes’ wife Brittany recently posted on social media that the couple’s two children had been ill with a stomach bug and that she had contracted the illness as well. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns, Travis Kelce caught 12 passes for 179 yards and a score, and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17 on Sunday to take command of the AFC West. Joshua Palmer caught five passes for 133 yards and Joshua Kelley ran seven times for 75 yards and a score. The score left Mahomes with 321 yards passing, the fourth time in his career that he had been over 300 yards before halftime. And it left Kelce with nine catches for 143 yards and a score. It only left the Chiefs with a 24-17 lead, though, because the Chargers were getting some big plays of their own.

New York Jets offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker has a torn Achilles tendon that will sideline him for the rest of the season. He started the first two games at right guard before sliding over to right tackle. Vera-Tucker, a 2021 first-round draft pick out of USC, also has played left guard and left tackle during his brief NFL career. Vera-Tucker moved from right guard to right tackle when Brown — the left tackle — was placed on IR after the second game.
