TEMPE, Arizona — Police are investigating what appears to be gunfire damage overnight at a Democratic Party-coordinated campaign office for Vice President Kamala Harris. The office is shared by staff for the Arizona Democratic Party, the Harris campaign, and Senate and House campaigns, to boost turnout for the party in November. “Overnight, several shots were fired into our Tempe Democratic Party coordinated campaign office,” McEnerney said. The coordinated campaign office in Tempe is one of 18 field offices for the Harris campaign in Arizona, according to Patty Socarras, the state Democratic Party's communications director. The Los Angeles Rams will place wide receiver Puka Nacua on injured reserve with a right knee injury, head coach Sean McVay said Monday. Nacua, a second-year receiver, will miss at least four weeks before he is eligible to return. He was injured during the Rams’ 26-20 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. It is an aggravation of an injury Nacua had during the offseason, ESPN reported. Nacua joins three offensive linemen and defensive back Cobie Durant as Rams on the injury report after Week 1.

CNN —Vandalism has come to another US historic site, Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg National Military Park, where a pivotal battle of the Civil War was fought. “Our hearts sank when these two cases of vandalism were reported within days of each other,” Park Superintendent Kristina Heister said in a statement. “We were fearful that the graffiti carved into the rock may be there for future generations.”Luckily, park staff was able to clean and remove all traces of the vandalism. Heister thanked both the staffers who were able to remove the graffiti and park visitors who alerted them to the damage. More recently, rangers at the Grand Canyon – the second most visited national park in the US – issued a strong warning against leaving “love locks” hooked onto structures at the Arizona park.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is hiring Nasrina Bargzie to lead outreach to Muslim and Arab voters, according to a campaign official who first shared details of the plan with NBC News — a move focused on a key constituency that soured on President Joe Biden over his support of Israel. Bargzie worked in Harris’ White House office until July as a policy adviser on Muslim, Arab and Gaza-related issues, as well as reproductive rights, voting and democracy, the campaign official said. PICACHO, Ariz. — How long does it take a large desert tortoise to get to the other side of a southern Arizona highway? It’s still a mystery, after a state Department of Public Safety trooper recently helped rescue an escaped sulcata tortoise that was attempting to cross Interstate 10 near Picacho. A motorist contacted authorities on July 30 to report a tortoise trying to cross the busy highway that’s halfway between Casa Grande and Tucson in Pinal County. Troopers saw the name “Stitch” labeled across the tortoise’s shell and contacted an ostrich ranch that was 3 miles away. According to the Arizona Republic, the ranch confirmed Stitch was one of it resident tortoises and had recently escaped from his habitat.
