"I think people need to stop following trends, and they need to follow their heart more," India tells CNBC Make It. People of more typical means should avoid falling into the "celebritization of travel," India adds. Instead, India recommends choosing travel spots based on your own passions and what you want to learn more about. Think about what you're reading, watching, listening to and talking about to guide your travel decisions. Where is a place that you can go, try the massages daily, or really go deeper into the culture?"

Read previewBack in the 80s and 90s, school shopping seemed straightforward and relatively inexpensive. As the parent of four children who's been back-to-school shopping for over a decade, I have realized the real key to surviving this time of year is being creative. With two in middle school and two in college, back-to-school shopping costs me almost as much as (if not more than) our family's most expensive holiday, Christmas. If nothing works out from last year's clothing, many secondhand stores will buy the kid's clothes that no longer fit. If they choose to spend more on school supplies, it will impact the amount they are allowed to spend on clothes.

Gen Z has a unique way of learning, and they seek a different path to navigate college. For example, Gen Z highly favors a teaching method known as the flipped classroom, where students watch online videos and expert-narrated demonstrations before coming to class. This helps students forego classroom hours and zero in on apprenticeships and job training, with some now labeling Gen Z the "tool-belt" generation.

And when Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election, after Silver gave her a 71% chance of winning, he became the subject of much (misplaced) scorn. But the rest of the world wants to know who Silver thinks is going to win the 2024 election. It's no longer Trump's election to lose. And so if it's Harris 80/20 and Trump wins, or Trump 80/20 and Harris wins on election day, then that's running some career risk. I wanted desperately to be in a place where I feel stimulated and I'm interested in the work I'm doing. The alternative was job hunting from scratch, not knowing what I would land and whether the offer would even come close to what JPMorgan was paying.

But the Llanez family never learned whether Gonzalez had followed ICE training protocols, because the way ICE agents are trained has been largely hidden from the public. For years, civil-rights groups have sought to obtain, with limited success, complete ICE training documents to understand how that training affects use of force by agents in the field. And they also appear to place an emphasis on teaching ICE agents how to justify the use of force. Among the most important lessons ICE agents receive is when and how to use deadly force. One of the questions asks which steps an officer must take before initiating deadly force; the answer is "None, deadly force can be initiated immediately."

In the summer of 1989, Tim Walz faced a difficult choice. A newly minted college graduate from small-town Nebraska, he had just turned down a stable, 9-to-5 job offer and moved across the world to teach at a local high school in China. He had made it as far as Hong Kong, just across the Chinese border, when People’s Liberation Army tanks rolled into Tiananmen Square to crush pro-democracy protests. As high school teachers in Nebraska and Minnesota, Mr. Walz and his wife, Gwen, regularly led trips to China in the 1990s and early 2000s to introduce students to China’s history and culture. Mr. Walz has said that he has traveled to China some 30 times, including for his honeymoon.

Around six years ago, married couple Christina, 37, and Noah, 35, took $10,000 out of the bank. After the massive withdrawal, the money continued to sit — in cash — in their closet for another three years. Noah, on the other hand, is comfortable with what they have and hesitant to spend any money beyond what they absolutely need to. "I think you have a dramatic miscalibration with what a lot of money means," Sethi told them. But sometimes you just need to take an honest look at the numbers," Sethi told her.

Rather than developing its own AI models, JPMorgan designed LLM Suite to be a portal that allows users to tap external large language models — the complex programs underpinning generative AI tools — and launched it with ChatGPT maker OpenAI’s LLM, said the people. ChatGPT banThe bank is giving employees what is essentially OpenAI’s ChatGPT in a JPMorgan-approved wrapper more than a year after it restricted employees from using ChatGPT. The number of uses for generative AI are “exponentially bigger” than previous technology because of how flexible LLMs are, Heitsenrether said. Ultimately, the generative AI field may develop into “five or six big foundational models” that dominate the market, she said. A dozen school districts in Oklahoma said they will not check students’ immigration status if asked by the state’s education department, in the latest sign of growing resistance to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters. “The focus has changed from public school students to self-centered political aspirations,” said Susan Wray, an elementary school principal in Edmond and a former state education department official. School districts also cannot ask students about their immigration status if it may be used to deny them access to a free public education, according to U.S. Department of Education guidance. The Deer Creek, Pryor, Millwood, Owasso and Jenks school districts told NBC News that they do not currently, nor do they plan to, ask students about their status. Hong Kong CNN —Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ running mate has a decades-long connection with China. “I remember waking up and seeing the news on June 4 that the unthinkable had happened,” Walz told Voice of America in an interview in 2014. In Chinese nationalist circles, which have an outsized voice on policy debates in China, there are no rosy illusions about Walz. I have six children between the ages of 5 and 11, and I've told them I won't pay for college except in very limited circumstances. I'm actively encouraging my kids to consider other options and how much ROI they'll get from college. One of the most interesting responses I've gotten from my kids is asking how they can make money now. Not paying for college might force them to be more financially responsible, but only if they choose — or try — to pay for college themselves. I want them to learn to be financially responsible and viable by earning money, with or without college.
