Read previewThe COVID pandemic was an unprecedented boom for the Pokémon card business. Few can forget the $3.5 million YouTuber-boxer Logan Paul blew on a pack of Pokémon cards that turned out to be GI Joe collectibles. He estimated that last year, PSA graded at least 6 million Pokémon trading cards out of the total 14 million it processed. It's made a lifetime total of more than 64.8 billion Pokémon cards since 1999, and production has been accelerating rapidly since the pandemic. Most customers wait a maximum of two months for their graded card, which returns with a rating between 1 and 10.

Harris opens up new potential paths to victorySince entering the race, Harris has shown momentum in early polling. This became worrisome for the Biden campaign as warning signs flashed in states like Virginia and New Hampshire. The positive early polling is a great sign for the vice president, but it isn't the only metric that shows momentum. Trump's pick for vice president makes things interestingVice presidential picks are far from guaranteed to help a presidential hopeful win a state. With Biden out of the race, Democrats will likely seek to tie the election — anchored by Harris' candidacy — to the party's future.

A political scion with the most famous last name in Kentucky Democratic politics, Andy Beshear, the affable, aw-shucks governor, is best known around the state for showing up. He met with families and held daily briefings after tornadoes tore through western Kentucky and flooding drowned eastern parts of the state. This boundless public schedule helps explain why Mr. Beshear is one of the rarest politicians in the country: a two-term Democratic governor in a deeply red, and deeply rural, state. Now Mr. Beshear is squarely in the mix of potential running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is considering several white, male Democrats who have proven their ability to attract moderate voters. He has said he received one of the first calls she made after President Biden dropped out.

California has very few shark attacks — just two recorded in 2023, fewer than New York and the Carolinas. The eastern coast from Virginia to New York doesn’t see many shark attacks, despite having many popular beach towns. Long Island in New York is, roughly speaking, the northern border of the bull and tiger shark ranges. Tiger Shark A 3D illustration of a Tiger Shark. CNN —When two US avocado inspectors were assaulted and detained at a police roadblock in the Mexican state of Michoacán last month, it sparked a costly international crisis. ‘Green gold’Avocados, the creamy fruit with the industry nickname “green gold,” are big business. Nearly three-quarters of Mexican avocados come from Michoacán, a state along the country’s Pacific coast with a volcanic belt running through it that makes its soil ideal for farming. The office of the Michoacán state prosecutor told CNN last month that they’ve opened an investigation into the incident. In 2022, exports of Mexican avocados were similarly halted for several days after one of the US inspectors working in Michoacán received a threatening phone call.
