Business Insider obtained a recording of Amazon CEO Andy Jassy's latest all-hands meeting. Jassy said Amazon's RTO policy is not a 'backdoor layoff' strategy. The RTO policy aims to strengthen company culture, not cut costs, he said. My friend and I budgeted $10,000 to launch a pickleball paddle company. Our product, pickleball paddles, would be more expensive to produce. Keeping our business money separate from our personal funds seemed like a smart bookkeeping move — and it made us feel more legit. We're working with a product sourcing company, 330 Trading, which helps eCommerce businesses connect with factories to manufacture their product. Between prototypes and a shipment of 20 of our final product paddles (seven of which went to USAP for testing), we've spent about $1,475.

After negotiations broke down in early July 2023, Atlanta-based UPS reached a contract agreement with the Teamsters just days before an Aug. 1 deadline. How F1 can help engineer the world's net-zero future
  + stars: | 2024-11-04 | by ( Chris Hawes | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +4 min
F1 produced 223,031 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2022, with almost 75% coming from travel and shipping. Unlike soccer, which produces more than 30 million metric tons per year by some estimates, F1 has the engineering capabilities to provide solutions. As reported in April, these goals are difficult to square with F1's decision to increase the number of races in its calendar. The final pedal F1 can push is energy efficiency, and teams are already looking for ways to transfer learnings from the track to their infrastructure. "We want to take that approach ... and apply it to the building and infrastructure side of the campus as well."

How much and how fast is hard to know, but you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be needing more dollars to pay for everyday goods if Trump’s sweeping tariffs are put in place. “If we get tariffs, we will pass those tariff costs back to the consumer,” said Philip Daniele, CEO of AutoZone, on an earnings call in September. But several studies conclude that the cost of those tariffs were borne almost entirely by American consumers and businesses. The most generous interpretation of Trump’s tariff plan would be that he’s trying to force US businesses to move their overseas operations back on US soil, creating jobs. Even if tariffs could undo decades of globalization, it likely wouldn’t have the effect Trump is hoping for.

CNN —Spurred by increasing global demand for air travel, aviation emissions have been rising faster than those from rail, road, or shipping in recent decades. The Natilus Horizon passenger plane aims to reduce emissions by 50%, and increase payload by 40%, due to its blended-wing body shape. Matyushev says the blended wing body design originated in the 1990s from McDonnell Douglas, a major American aerospace manufacturer that merged with Boeing in 1997. Boeing never commercialized a blended wing plane, but studied the concept and produced an unmanned prototype, the X-48. “One of the challenges with the blended wing body design is stability and control,” he explains.

As of October 25, the average precipitation across the Lower 48 was less than an inch. Only five months in the 129 years of records have ended with less than an inch of average precipitation over the Lower 48.
