That’s what I’m worried about.” Photo: MIKE SEGAR/REUTERSA top Federal Reserve official said he would err on the side of overtightening monetary policy rather than not doing enough to bring inflation down to the central bank’s 2% target. “Undertightening will not get us back to 2% in a reasonable time,” Neel Kashkari , the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Monday.

REUTERS/Mike Segar/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) - The White House urged caution on Tuesday regarding opinion polls showing Democratic President Joe Biden lagging behind leading Republican candidate Donald Trump. A New York Times/Siena poll on Sunday showed Biden trailing Trump in five of six battleground states, with a year to go until the November 2024 presidential election. "There's going to be a lot of polls out there," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters when asked about them. She said they should be taken with a grain of salt and harked back to polls showing Republican Mitt Romney leading Democratic then-President Barack Obama ahead of the 2012 election, which Obama won handily. The Times poll showed Biden behind Trump in Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania and Biden ahead of Trump in Wisconsin.

Netherlands-based activist group Follow This was created first to target Shell (SHEL.L) and subsequently expanded to file climate resolutions at other western majors including BP (BP.L), Exxon Mobil (XOM.N), Chevron (CVX.N) and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA). According to the data published by it and investors, giant U.S. investors BlackRock (BLK.N), Vanguard, State Street (STT.N) and JPMorgan (JPM.N) all voted against the Follow This resolutions this year. "Investors hold the key to tackling the climate crisis with their shareholder voting power at Big Oil. Amundi, Allianz, and UBS use their voting power to mitigate the climate crisis,” said Follow This founder Mark van Baal. This mirrors big shareholder proxy voting firm Glass Lewis and ISS, which changed some of their recommendations for this year to the detriment of Follow This, including withdrawing support for the activist resolution at Chevron.

"The people of New York (are) amazing," said Tola, who hoisted his arms aloft as he claimed his first World Marathon Major title after taking third in London earlier this year. Obiri produced an extraordinary final kick in the women's race to outlast Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey, who crossed the finish line about six seconds behind, as last year's winner, Kenyan Sharon Lokedi, finished third in 2:27:33. Swiss Marcel Hug broke the tape in 1:25:29 in the men’s wheelchair race, picking up a record-extending sixth title in New York, while his compatriot, Catherine Debrunner, won the women's race in 1:39:32. The race capped a blockbuster year for the World Marathon Majors in which both the men’s and women’s world records were obliterated. The White House in July had advanced $6.88 billion in funding from the Federal Transit Administration for the project. Schumer, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and New York Governor Kathy Hochul were among the officials who celebrated the start of construction in New York on the Hudson Tunnel Project. Buttigieg said Friday the Hudson Tunnel project will reduce traveler delays, support 72,000 jobs and generate $19 billion in economic activity. The project was debated in Washington for over a decade since the New York City-area rail tunnel was damaged when Superstorm Sandy flooded parts of the city. The verdict could upend decades-old practices that have allowed real estate agents to boost commissions by forcing sellers to pay commissions to buyers' real estate brokers. Representatives of Compass and Douglas Elliman declined to comment. BTIG analyst Soham Bhonsle in an investor note said the fact that Douglas Elliman, Redfin, Compass and eXp were being sued by the same lawyers was a negative for their stocks. Zillow (ZG.O) shares initially fell 0.33% after brokerage Jefferies cut its price target, citing the impact of Tuesday's verdict. While Zillow is not a defendant in either lawsuit, Jefferies said Tuesday's verdict "increases the chances of a ban on commission sharing and Zillow having to pivot the business model."

"If an immediate ceasefire doesn't take place in Gaza Strip and the rapid attacks by U.S. and Zionist Regime continue then the consequences would be harsh," he said in Ankara. The country says it supports Hamas but did not play any role in the militants' attack on Israel last month. Both it and Turkey have condemned Israel's subsequent bombardment of Gaza. Although the case is limited to dating apps in the Netherlands, it is seen as having potential to set a precedent for other markets. Apple did agreed to make changes to the app store including opening it to alternative forms of payment for dating apps in the Netherlands. In February 2022 Apple cut commissions for dating app makers in the Netherlands to 27% from 30%. "Apple ... harms dating app providers by charging them an additional, and inexplicably higher, fee for the same services" it does other types of app makers, it said in the document.

Daylight saving time is the practice of moving clocks forward by one hour during summer months so daylight lasts longer into the evening. WHY WAS DAYLIGHT SAVING CREATED IN THE US AND HOW DID IT START? No, Hawaii and Arizona, with the exception of Navajo Nation, do not observe daylight saving time. While daylight saving time is widespread across the United States, 19 states have passed legislation to permanently use daylight saving time if Congress were to allow it, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. The U.S. is not ending daylight saving any time soon, though there is an effort in the federal government to pass the so-called Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving time permanent.

While that was up 14% from the previous fiscal year, sales this year have slowed along with the rest of the PC industry, which has suffered a post-pandemic slump.
