McDonald’s is preparing 2025 value offerings in a bid to hang onto customers who are fed up with high costs at restaurants. Local value offerings have been on menus across the country and in the app as of late, including 10 piece nuggets for $1, among other deals, as a part of the broader value strategy. While operators are still voting on the 2025 value offerings, the initiative looks likely to pass, two people familiar with the matter said. In its most recent quarter, McDonald’s reported earnings and revenue that topped expectations, but saw its same-store sales fall globally by 1.5%. And when you do that with news and great marketing, you can get strong full margin check that goes along with some of those value programs,” he said.

When Tomas Gorny started a tech business in 2001, he wasn't thinking about becoming a billionaire someday. Gorny started a business called Ipower, which sold software that helped people build their own websites. Six years later, he sold Ipower to web hosting company Endurance International for a reported $100 million. Perhaps ironically, Gorny says the more modest goal helped helped him grow his company's bottom line far more effectively. Once he released his more developed products, Ipower started adding hundreds of new customers per day, he says.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday said consumers right now aren't focused on brand names, but on companies that can provide the most value. The big box retailer cut its full-year guidance, and management said it saw weakness in discretionary products despite price cuts. Although the two retailers offer similar products, Cramer said Walmart is simply more affordable. He also named other discount outfits that are seeing success despite a tough consumer landscape, including Costco , TJX , Chili's-parent Brinker and Texas Roadhouse . On Wall Street, this focus on value extends beyond consumer companies and to sectors like tech, Cramer added.

REUTERS/Ken CedenoThe Department of Justice is calling for Google to divest its Chrome browser, following a ruling in August that the company holds a monopoly in the search market. Chrome, which Google launched in 2008, provides the search giant with data it then uses for targeting ads. Additionally, the DOJ said that Google be prevented from entering into exclusionary agreements with third parties like Apple and Samsung. The DOJ also said that remedies should prevent Google from eliminating "emerging competitive threats through acquisitions, minority investments, or partnerships." As such, premium seats — currently about 30% of Delta's inventory — will be a majority focus of any added capacity next year. Delta is doubling down on premium seatsDelta's premium cabins, including premium-economy upgrades, Delta One business class, and domestic first class, have long been profit drivers. Delta said its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft will be introduced with about 50% premium seats, for example, while the airline plans to add lie-flat business class to A321neo jets. AdvertisementThis all comes after Delta had higher-than-expected earnings in the third quarter, largely anchored by premium seats, even though it was dinged by a costly CrowdStrike outage. Delta Air Lines on Wednesday said sales would grow in 2025, citing a "resilient economy" for strong travel demand and credit card spending, especially for higher-end offerings. Delta forecast revenue growth in the mid-single digit percentage points next year compared with 2024, in line with the roughly 6% growth analysts were expecting. In an investor day presentation, the carrier said it would expand flying by 3% to 4% next year from 2024. Hauenstein said Delta is looking for new ways to segment its cabins after the carrier — and rivals — spent years breaking coach-class into options like premium economy, extra-legroom seats and basic economy. While it didn't provide detail, it's also considering more options for travelers sitting in the front of the plane too, Hauenstein said.

Simply put, the leading maker of AI chips again fell victim to the curse of high expectations. Through its Nvidia AI Enterprise service, Nvidia is in the process of building out a potentially massive software business. Now, as we start this next generation, we'll be seeing models run on 100,000 Blackwell chips — and scaling is still in effect. Huang's argument is that going beyond 100,000 Blackwell chips will yield even more capable models. It's a fair question to ask because Nvidia's stock has historically taken a pretty big hit when its customers – such as cloud-computing providers – start uttering that phrase.

Government crucial to Musk’s net worthIt’s worthwhile to ask just how much of his world-leading net worth comes from government help over the last 10 to 15 years. Tesla and SpaceX got started – and survived their early days – with assistance from state and federal policies, government contracts and loans. Tesla buyers received federal tax credits worth an estimated $3.4 billion before the perk disappeared entirely for Tesla buyers at the end of 2019. “Take away the subsidies, it will only help Tesla,” Musk posted on his social media platform X in July. According to USASpending.gov, the government database that tracks federal spending, SpaceX has signed contracts worth nearly $20 billion.
