“Pee-wee’s Playhouse” stands as one of the oddest, most audacious, most unclassifiable shows in television history. In one episode, Pee-wee married a fruit salad. The show arrived in the midst of Ronald Reagan’s presidential administration and harked back to another button-down era, the one Mr. Reubens lived as a child: the 1950s. ‘‘I saw it as very Norman Rockwell,” he told The New York Times in 2016, ‘‘but it was my Norman Rockwell version of the ’50s, which was more all-inclusive.”Laurence Fishburne, S. Epatha Merkerson and other actors of color were in the cast. “Not just anybody — the king!” Mr. Reubens said.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK Contemporary rocking chairs, affectionately known as ‘Mod Rockers,’ tend to have sexier, bolder designs than their stiff wooden antecedents. Photo: living4mediaTHE PORCH ROCKING CHAIR: It’s an American classic on par with apple pie, the Louisville Slugger and the folksy works of Norman Rockwell. But given how few of us have Rockwellian homes and families, or porches that offer bucolic views, the traditional wooden seat—rigid and staid—can feel out of place in our urban outdoor spaces. Rocking chairs are “designed and built so well,” said New York interior designer Tina Ramchandani. “[They] just needed an updated look.”

In one of the new stories, people become obsessed with climbing ladders until one fellow disappears into the sky. “Green” is about a town that gets rid of its lawns and trees, only to long for them back. From hints in his diary, it appears that he liked to lie on her stomach and make love to her navel. In another scene, a naked little woman slides down a large man’s ear, to apparently profound effect. Little things become fashionable.

Why did you decide to confront the foster care system? LEAF When researching the foster-care system, you realize how broken it is on every level. I’m talking about children in the foster-care system who grow up and have their own children. I think what drew me to the foster-care system was seeing how people who spent their childhoods in foster care were impacted as adults when the system failed them. All those things are what people in foster care want more than anything.

Here's a rapid-fire update on all 35 stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust, the portfolio we use for the CNBC Investing Club. Coterra Energy (CTRA): At roughly 10 times forward earnings, Jim said he'd classify Coterra shares as dirt cheap. Estee Lauder (EL): We're downgrading Estee Lauder to a 2 rating Wednesday, meaning we're no longer recommending investors buy the stock at current levels. But we're sticking with Estee Lauder because eventually we expect China's economy to turn around, and with it EL's stock price. The semiconductor firm, which has seen its stock price nearly triple this year, is reportedly considering taking a long-term stake in chip designer Arm Holdings.

Investors hoping to capture more upside from artificial intelligence could turn to a sector that's underperformed this year, and maybe not immediately associated with AI: Health care. Greater drug discovery The bull case for health care boils down to several factors including improvements made in drug discovery. Cox added that one overlooked health care and AI beneficiary would be Amazon , which he called a "sleeper" pick for investors. This year, it closed a $3.9 billion transaction for primary health care provider One Medical . The investor also called Rockwell Automation one of his stock picks that could benefit from AI in health care.

The Club's industrials are set to profit from a burgeoning trend of companies bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. from overseas. As companies reconstruct supply chains in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mizuho analysts see a multiyear revenue benefit for Western industrials. But companies that enable manufacturing automation, including Emerson, follow closely behind as "core beneficiaries" of the reindustrialization cycle, according to Mizuho. Meanwhile, Mizuho pointed to Honeywell as one of the companies offering a more diversified way for investors to gain reshoring exposure. June 14 (Reuters) - French aerospace engine maker Safran SA (SAF.PA) is nearing an approximately $1.8 billion deal to acquire a Raytheon Technologies Corp (RTX.N) unit that makes flight controls for aircraft, helicopters and missiles, according to a person familiar with the matter. Safran may reach a deal to acquire Raytheon's actuation business that makes flight controls as early as this week, the source said, asking not to be identified because the matter is confidential. Spokespeople for Safran and Raytheon did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Safran said on June 5 it was participating in a "competitive process" for Raytheon's flight controls business, without commenting on the chances of an agreement or the terms of a deal. The Raytheon business will strengthen Safran's ties with Airbus SE (AIR.PA), since it sells into many of its commercial aircraft and has some operations in France.

CNN —Like many adults, a lot of teenagers don’t know what they want to do when they grow up. Even when they think they do, they may not have a realistic grasp of whether a given occupation or job is likely to be economically viable for them over time. After assessing all those elements, the role is assigned a CFI score — the higher the number, the more economically viable a job is. The gap between popular occupations and viable onesThe Gallup-Amazon report identifies, among other things, how wide the gap is between a given career’s economic viability score and how popular its ranking is among 15-year-olds. For instance, among jobs that largely employ people without a bachelor’s degree, 27 careers score at or above the average score for positions typically filled by college graduates.

Hong Kong CNN —China is claiming a historic win this week after its answer to Boeing and Airbus, the C919, took to the skies for its first commercial flight. But instead of boosting China’s global stature in technology innovation, experts say the C919 is a symbol of its continued reliance on the West. COMAC’s first commercial plane, by comparison, is a much smaller regional jet called the ARJ21, which can only fly up to 3,700 kilometers (2,300 miles) and accommodate up to 97 passengers. Apple's headset project suffered from CEO Tim Cook's "distant" approach and lacked the confidence of key company executives at times, Bloomberg reported Thursday. Cook isn't alone in keeping his distance, Bloomberg reported. Top executives including Apple software chief Craig Federighi and hardware executive Johny Srouji have both shown concern about the project, Bloomberg reported. Federighi seemed "wary" and kept his distance, Bloomberg reported citing people familiar, and Srouji compared the headset effort to a "science project." Apple made the decision to sell the headset product at cost as opposed to at a loss, as it originally planned to do, Bloomberg reported.
