The third wild film I saw at the Eccles on Friday was “Sasquatch Sunset,” a wordless comedy that follows a quartet of grunting Bigfoots as they trek through the forest for a year. Two of the Sasquatches are played, under heavy prosthetics, by Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg, though you’d never know it was them unless you were told beforehand. (Well, maybe some people could clock Eisenberg as the most high-strung Bigfoot, if forced to grade these performances on a sliding sasquatch scale.) What starts off as slapstick becomes weirdly moving as we watch some of the sasquatches succumb to natural disasters. In the ’90s, every independent filmmaker dreamed of launching their career at this festival as the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh had.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A high-profile entertainment marketing consultant was targeted by a woman who had been stalking one of his friends before she fatally shot him after her forcing her way inside his Los Angeles home, prosecutors said Thursday. This week's slaying of Michael Latt sent shockwaves through Hollywood as the suspect faces charges of murder and burglary. Unifor reached a tentative deal with Stellantis on Oct. 30 after a brief strike at the Franco-Italian automaker's facilities in Canada. The agreement was ratified after positive votes from members at Stellantis facilities in Windsor, Brampton, Etobicoke, Mississauga and Red Deer. Unifor used the "pattern bargaining" approach in its talks with the automakers, reaching a deal first with Ford (F.N) and General Motors (GM.N). Meanwhile, more-than-a-month old strike by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union against the Detroit Three automakers in the United States also ended in October.

Goldman Sachs announced its 2023 class of managing directors Thursday afternoon, giving 608 employees the coveted title. It's a smaller cohort than the bank's 2021 MD class, down 5% amid a dealmaking slowdown. Still, Goldman appears to have taken pains to promote employees in revenue-generating divisions like investment banking and trading. Goldman says the percentage of women it promoted as part of the 2023 MD class sets a record, up 1% from 2021. Two years ago, Goldman promoted the largest managing director class in its history, naming 643 employees to the designation in 2021.
