CNN —A 13-year-old Indian cricketer made history on Monday as he became the youngest player ever to have his rights purchased at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The rights to Vaibhav Suryavanshi were bought for 11 million Indian rupees (around $130,000) to the Rajasthan Royals after a bidding spree between the Royals and the Delhi Capitals forced his price up. The IPL’s auction sees the league’s 10 teams compete via a bidding process to acquire players to fill out their rosters. “Incredible talent and, of course, you’ve got to have the confidence so he can step up to the IPL level. OpenAI is allowing employees to sell roughly $1.5 billion worth of shares in a new tender offer to SoftBank, CNBC has learned. Employees will have until Dec. 24 to decide if they want to participate in the new tender offer, which has not previously been reported, one of the people said. The tender offer is not related to OpenAI's potential plans to restructure the firm to a for-profit business, one of the people said. The OpenAI investment matches SoftBank's eagerness to deploy cash, with a capital-intensive business model, a person close to Son told CNBC. The company also received a $4 billion revolving line of credit, bringing its total liquidity to more than $10 billion.

Week 12 saw plenty of heavy favorites face underdogs, but it didn’t prove as simple as many thought. Barkley rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the Eagles’ Week 1 victory over the Green Bay Packers. While that still might be the case, it’s not been smooth sailing for the Texans through 12 weeks of the season. He has struggled behind a porous offensive line and that affected the running game on Sunday with Mixon only having 22 yards on 14 carries. The Seahawks currently lead the division having gotten the favorable tiebreaker thanks to their Week 12 home victory over the Cardinals.

A federal judge ruled Monday that a volleyball player for the San Jose State University women's team, who is at the center of controversy about transgender athletes, can compete in this week's conference tournament. Judge S. Kato Crews, with the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, denied the emergency motion for a preliminary injunction filed this month against the Mountain West Conference. "San José State University will continue to support its student-athletes and reject discrimination in all forms," the university said said. "All San José State University student-athletes are eligible to participate in their sports under NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules." It’s a “capital junkie” that’s been on a yearslong binge of unprecedented spending on all-electric and autonomous vehicles. Capital junkieThe latest cost-cutting cycle comes nearly a decade after an infamous Wall Street presentation by late-Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne called “Confessions of a Capital Junkie.” The April 2015 report highlighted the industry’s massive capital spending on overlapping or niche products that Marchionne was convinced could be solved through consolidation and shared capital spending. That’s shareholder money.”Most capital spending by automakers isn’t wasted, but the industry isn’t as efficient as other sectors, with minimal return on invested capital. While losing ground in China, GM has been among the most aggressive in spending on EVs and self-driving vehicles. ‘Wicked’ was initially, and always, intended to be a movieBut there’s another reason that feels just as obvious. Clearly, the Tony-winning Broadway show’s and now movie’s success is a testament to the fact that he had the right instinct. Never before, lobbyists say, has the geographic center of power shifted so dramatically with the arrival of a new administration. By leveraging his access to Trump, Ballard Partners was able to compete with the old white-shoe lobbying firms that have been the industry's dominant players for decades. Corporate clients need lobbyists who appreciate that Trump is "disrupting the status quo in Washington," Sayfie, the Ballard lobbyist, says. Some major companies, lobbyists say, have been caught off guard by the rapid pace of Trump's transition moves. A transgender volleyball player at San Jose State University can continue to compete on the women’s team, a judge ruled Monday, despite complaints from other players who object to the participation of an athlete who is transgender. It is the latest chapter in the fierce national debate about whether transgender athletes, particularly transgender women, should be allowed to compete on teams that align with their gender identity. Players for other colleges in San Jose State’s conference, the Mountain West, had filed a lawsuit seeking to bar the player from competition. They were joined by some people affiliated with San Jose State, including a current co-captain of the team, former players and a recently suspended assistant coach. The plaintiffs argued that allowing the player to participate in the tournament would discriminate against women by denying them equal opportunities.
