Strategist Lori Calvasina issued a year-end 2025 target for the broad market index of 6,600. The S & P 500 has rallied 3.2% since Donald Trump secured a second presidential term, raising expectations of lower taxes and deregulation. To be sure, Calvasina thinks there will be 5%-10% correction in the near term before equities resume their march to all-time highs. It was a chemical reaction that sparked the massive fire and toxic smoke plume at a lab in Georgia that threatened nearby communities and metropolitan Atlanta in September, according to the findings released by the U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB). The board released its findings Friday following an investigation into the Sept. 29 chemical fire at a BioLab plant in Conyers, Georgia. The safety board said the main substances involved were a collection of chemicals that are commonly used for cleaning and disinfecting: bromochloro-5,5-dimethylimidazolidine-2,4-dione (BCDMH), trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) and sodium dichloroisocyanurate (DCCA). “The resulting massive plumes of toxic smoke contained chlorine and other hazardous substances and caused significant offsite impacts,” the CSB said. The board will provide its findings and recommendations in its final investigation report.

A Connecticut couple were charged with being part of an organized retail theft operation that is suspected of stealing about $1 million in Lululemon merchandise across several states, the authorities said. The couple, Jadion Anthony Richards, 44, and Akwele Nickeisha Lawes-Richards, 45, of Danbury, Conn., were each charged with one felony count of organized retail theft this month in connection with crimes that began in September, according to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office in Minnesota. They were arrested at a Lululemon store in Woodbury, Minn., one day after they went to a Lululemon store in Roseville, Minn., where they and an unidentified man stole 45 items worth nearly $5,000, according to the charges. An investigator for Lululemon, who is identified in court documents only by the initials R.P., said that the couple began by stealing from Minnesota stores in Edina, Minneapolis and Minnetonka.

An infant has died and 10 adults have been sickened amid a four-state listeria outbreak connected to ready-to-eat meat products, officials said. The outbreak has been tied to ready-to-eat meat produced by Yu Shang Food, Inc. of Spartanburg, South Carolina, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in an update Friday. The infant who died was a twin whose sibling also died but whose death could not be linked to listeria. Of the eight people sickened, seven shopped at markets where Yu Shang Food products are sold, and two said they recalled eating Yu Shang Food chicken, the CDC update said. “This suggests that people in this outbreak got sick from the same food,” the CDC said in its update.
