Oct 29 (Reuters) - Twitter users could in future choose a version of the social media platform they like by providing ratings on their tweets,Elon Musk, the new owner of the company, said in a tweet on Saturday. loading"Being able to select which version of Twitter you want is probably better, much as it would be for a movie maturity rating," he said. "The rating of the tweet itself could be self-selected, then modified by user feedback," he added. Musk tweeted on Friday that Twitter will form a content moderation council "with widely diverse viewpoints." PORT-AU-PRINCE, Oct 29 (Reuters) - A well-known Haitian politician was killed in an apparent gang attack in an affluent suburb of the capital Port-au-Prince, Haitian media reported on Saturday, amid a gang blockade of a fuel terminal that has created a humanitarian crisis. It was not immediately evident who was responsible for the attack. Laboule 12 is now increasingly under the control of a gang called Ti Makak, which in recent years has risen from obscurity to become a powerful criminal group involved in extortion and kidnappings. The murder follows the August assassination of former Haitian senator Yvon Buissereth in the same area, a crime that one state official attributed to Ti Makak. NEW DELHI, Oct 29 (Reuters) - India continues to favour a self-regulatory body for social media content disputes, a federal minister told Reuters, despite a lack of consensus among Big Tech companies to form a joint appeals panel. Decisions about social media content have been a particularly thorny issue in India. During a press briefing on Saturday, Chandrasekhar said the current system of in-house grievance redressal at tech companies was "broken". The government panel "is a signal to them (social media firms) that they need to up their game," Chandrasekhar told Reuters. WASHINGTON, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Europe's energy subsidies may reduce the current rate of inflation but only at the expense of future higher readings, potentially complicating the task of monetary policy, European Central Bank (ECB) policymaker Francois Villeroy de Galhau said on Saturday. "We should not be under the illusion that price caps reduce underlying inflation," Villeroy said in Washington on Saturday, addressing a meeting of the G30, a group of private and public financial officials. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Register"They may only help to reduce the risk of second round effects," he added. "Price caps, if temporary, only reduce current measured inflation at the expense of future measured inflation." Instead of broader spending increases which add to already high inflation pressures, governments should focus help on those in the greatest need of help, Villeroy argued.
MILAN, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Italy's Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) (BMPS.MI) said a new share sale to raise up to 2.5 billion euros ($2.4 billion) would cost it 125 million euros in fees to financial institutions backstopping the issue. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com RegisterAfter difficult negotiations that risked derailing the capital raising, the eight banks have agreed to guarantee the share issue for up to 807 million euros. Algebris is backstopping up to another 50 million euros. The fees amount to nearly 15% of the guaranteed sum and compare with a market value of just 99.8 million euros for MPS on Friday. The cost of the capital increase, which totals 132 million euros, would shave 15 basis points off that target, MPS said.

MILAN, Oct 15 (Reuters) - U.S.-based Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is in exploratory talks with Italian shipping group MSC for a possible investment in GIP's railway operator Italo, two Italian newspapers reported on Saturday. The Syrian transport ministry quoted survivors as saying the boat had left from Lebanon's northern Minyeh region on Tuesday with between 120 and 150 people on board, bound for Europe.
