CNN —The flight attendant involved in an incident that led to Terrell Davis’ removal from a United Airlines plane in handcuffs “is no longer employed” and the NFL Hall of Famer’s “no fly” ban has been lifted, the airline told CNN Tuesday. Additionally, the airline said the flight attendant involved in the controversy is no longer an employee. It was not immediately clear if the flight attendant’s employment status is a result of the incident involving Davis. The letter “was generated due to the report of the flight attendant - who is no longer employed by United,” Leslie Scott, a spokesperson for United Airlines, said in a statement to CNN. I did not see or interact with him further for the duration of the flight,” Davis wrote July 15, two days after the incident.

Now, negotiating better wages and working conditions for Carranza and thousands of other Disneyland employees has gotten messy, to the point where 9,500 of them will conclude a vote on Friday that will authorize a potential strike. But that does not mean a strike will necessarily happen, as was the case with Teamsters at UPS last year. A dream of affordabilityCarranza ‘s Disneyland wage is just over $20 per hour, after factoring in a differential for working the overnight shift. Escaping reality, not confronting itA strike would involve about 9,500 employees who work at Disneyland Park, currently under a contract that expired in June. Terrell Davis, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member, said he was detained by the authorities on Saturday in California after he “lightly” tapped a United Airlines flight attendant’s arm to ask for a cup of ice — an episode that he said left him feeling “humiliated, embarrassed, powerless and angry.”Mr. Davis, 51, was traveling from Denver to Orange County, Calif., on a United Airlines flight with his family, he wrote in a statement released by his lawyers. During the flight, Mr. Davis said, his son asked for a cup of ice, and that the flight attendant “either didn’t hear or ignored” his son. Mr. Davis said he then “lightly tapped” the attendant on the arm to get his attention, and that the attendant shouted, “Don’t hit me,” and rushed to the front of the plane. “I was confused, as were the passengers in front of me who witnessed the exchange,” Mr. Davis wrote. “I thought nothing of it other than this particular employee was incredibly rude and blatantly wrong in his accusations of me hitting him.”

Davis, 51, was flying with his wife, two sons and daughter when one of the sons asked for a cup of ice during beverage service, Davis wrote. A flight attendant “either didn’t hear or ignored his request and continued past our row,” the post read. “I calmly reached behind me and lightly tapped (the attendant’s) arm to get his attention to again ask for a cup of ice for my son,” Davis wrote. “During questioning, it was rightfully determined by the agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate in his accusations and the agents profusely apologized,” Davis wrote. United Airlines has “removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter,” the company said in an email to CNN on Monday evening.

On a summer weekend, mid-heat wave, the promising smell of clean fryer oil drifted through a parking lot in Costa Mesa, Calif. Inside Mercado González, children were on tiptoes, squeaking hands against the glass at El Moro, watching cooks pipe and fry swirls of dough to a precise golden brown, then snip the coils into curved batons and roll them in cinnamon sugar. It was an efficient and beautiful routine. Good churros aren’t hard to find, but El Moro is both a chain and an institution, and before the mercado opened last fall, the only place you could try its famously long, thin, thoroughly crisp-edged versions was in Mexico. A group of teens in front of me, dazzled by a promo video for the churro ice-cream sandwich, workshopped their orders out loud while the line shuffled along.

A United States Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint in Southern California over the weekend, on the same night that President Joe Biden was in Los Angeles for a re-election fund-raiser, the authorities said on Monday. Upon arriving at the development — a former military base — the police discovered that the victim was a Secret Service agent whose bag had been stolen at gunpoint, the statement said. During the robbery, an agent fired a gun, the police added. The suspected robbery occurred on the same night that Mr. Biden was in downtown Los Angeles for a star-studded re-election fund-raiser with former President Barack Obama. Celebrities including George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand attended the gala, which the Biden campaign said raised at least $28 million.

In an ordinary industrial building off a busy Orange County street, a Seussian contraption, nearly 100 feet long, clattered to life. The room filled with the hum and squeaks of belts and machinery. Like passengers on a dark amusement ride, bundles of colorful magazine pages, printed a week earlier, began a wild, circuitous journey, through tunnels and up ramps, that lasted a few minutes. The long edge of each new 130-page sheaf was dipped into a pool of melting glue, then dropped into a U-shaped cover. After drying during a series of slow corkscrews, the new magazine’s edges were chopped smooth by guillotines and emerged through an opening.
