The attorneys who've been defending Rudy Giuliani in a case seeking to force him to turn over his assets to two former election worker he defamed are asking a judge permission to drop him as a client. “Mayor Giuliani has not been informed by Mr. Caruso of this action. Surely Mr. Caruso would talk to the mayor, or at the very least inform him of such a decision,” Goodman said. In court last week, Giuliani said he was unsure where his valuables were, a claim the judge called "farcical." Nathan told the judge he'd discovered that numerous items had been moved from Giuliani's apartment in recent weeks, despite the turnover order.

The sewage is exposed to the air and causes a lot of nausea and headaches,” said Veronica Isabel Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA Ohio, a nonprofit group assisting Latino state residents, which has advised mobile home park residents who sued. It is very expensive,” said Yvonne Maldonado, a co-director of Manufactured Housing Action, a nonprofit group that focuses on such communities. “We have recently seen private equity enter the manufactured housing market," PESP housing research coordinator Madeline Bankson said. During hurricanes, the National Weather Service has said, 72% of deaths occur in homes, and of those, 54% occur in mobile homes. She also urged mobile home park residents to organize their communities and if there are complaints, to do it as a group, which is more effective.

Mike Kemp | In Pictures | Getty ImagesBritain's motor finance industry is in disarray, with analysts warning of worst-case scenarios similar in magnitude to the country's costliest consumer banking scandal. The decision caught many in the motor finance industry off guard and appears to have paved the way for a multi-billion-pound redress scheme to compensate consumers. It urged motor finance groups to consider setting aside financial provisions to resolve the high volume of complaints. According to the banks, they followed the rules and guidelines set by the FCA, which are not aligned with the new Court of Appeal ruling," Kammer told CNBC via email. Trump's transition team aims to kill Biden EV tax credit: Reuters

Win Mcnamee | Getty Images News | Getty ImagesPresident-elect Donald Trump's transition team is planning to kill the $7,500 consumer tax credit for electric-vehicle purchases as part of broader tax-reform legislation, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters. Ending the tax credit could have grave implications for an already stalling U.S. EV transition. Representatives with the Trump transition and Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The alliance last month in an Oct. 15 letter urged Congress to retain the EV tax credits, calling them "critical to cementing the U.S. as a global leader in the future of automotive technology and manufacturing." Trump's energy transition team views the consumer EV credit as an easy target, believing that eliminating it would get broad consensus in a Republican-controlled Congress as part of a larger tax-reform bill.

Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), during an event at the Peterson Institute of Economics (PIIE) during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank in Washington, DC, US, on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024. Central banks have managed to engineer a soft landing through a period of "continual and unprecedented shocks," but there is still a risk of global inflation returning and of economic growth slowing down, according to India's central bank chief. Speaking Thursday in Mumbai, India, at CNBC-TV18's Global Leadership Summit, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said monetary policy from global central banks had largely "performed well" in recent years despite conflicts, geopolitical tensions and higher volatility. "A soft landing has been ensured but risks of inflation — as I speak to you here today — risks of inflation coming back and growth slowing down do remain," Das said. Das pointed to several contradictions in global markets to underline his view, including the appreciation of the U.S. dollar, even as the Federal Reserve is cutting interest rates.

Four years after the radio telescope at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico collapsed, a report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine is shining a light on the unprecedented failures that caused its destruction. The zinc gradually lost its hold on the cables suspending the telescope’s main platform over the reflector dish. The telescope was built in the 1960s with money from the Defense Department amid a push to develop anti-ballistic missile defenses. Following a few other cable failures, the federal agency decided to begin a plan to decommission the telescope in November 2020. In 2022, the National Science Foundation said it would not rebuild Puerto Rico's renowned radio telescope.

A coalition of parents attempting to block a state law that would require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in public school classrooms by next year have won a legal battle in federal court. The judge wrote that the law is "facially unconstitutional" and "in all applications," barring Louisiana from enforcing it and adopting rules around it that require all public K-12 schools and colleges to exhibit posters of the Ten Commandments. We've shown that in our briefs by creating a number of posters," Murrill told reporters. The displays included historical context for the commandments that the state believes makes its law constitutional.
