Democratic nominee Kamala Harris said on her campaign's X account that Trump rambled and "looked confused" on stage during the event. Almost 30 minutes into the town hall event, Trump paused the event so someone in the audience could receive treatment. Two minutes later, as Trump faced the fifth question of the night, another person became ill and the song played again. Kristi Noem of South Dakota asked Trump on stage, "Do you want to play your song and then greet a few people?" A national NBC News poll on Sunday put Trump and Harris neck and neck among registered voters, with three weeks to go until election day.

Americans are more eager to vote early than they were before the pandemic, but a deep partisan divide on early voting remains, the latest national NBC News poll shows. Another 47% said they plan to vote early (20% by mail and 27% in person). Overall, 52% of voters said they're planning to cast their ballots early this year, with 44% planning to vote in person on Election Day. (By late October, the share of people saying they'd vote early had risen to 68%.) The partisan divide between those voting early and on Election Day remains stark, after years of former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies attacking the legitimacy of early voting.

Including Detroit, Trump this year has pointedly attacked the most populous cities in three battleground states crucial to winning the White House: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Trump’s attacks risk offending swing voters who don’t share his dark view of their big cities, as well as Black voters his campaign is trying to sway in what’s expected to be a close election won on the margins. Thank you, sir, for saying it.’ They want help.”“These cities,” Trump added, “it’s like living in hell.”It’s not only large cities that Trump likes to vilify. A Republican close to Trump’s campaign argued that his attacks on cities aren’t insults but are, rather, a pledge to solve problems that most people who live in those regions recognize. Courting the Black voteMichigan was the site of Trump’s memorable 2016 call for Black voters to support his candidacy.

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taiwan’s defense ministry on Tuesday detailed the surge in Chinese warplane activity around the island during war games the previous day, saying it had detected a record 153 Chinese military aircraft. In its daily update on Chinese military activity around the island in the previous 24 hours, Taiwan’s defense ministry said it had spotted 153 Chinese military aircraft, updating a figure given on Monday evening of 125 which it had already said was a record high for a single day. There were also 14 Chinese navy ships and 12 “official ships” — which refers to the coast guard and other military-adjacent vessels — spotted, the ministry said. Speaking to reporters in Taipei, Premier Cho Jung-tai said the drills were not just a Taiwan issue. “Any drills without prior warning will cause great disturbance to peace and stability in the entire region,” he said.

Yale’s gecko-inspired robot’s ability to reconfigure itself creates a soft robot that’s even more adaptable. Tan, who works on materials for soft electronics and soft robotics, says that Yale’s robot is the first self-amputating, self-reconfigurable soft robot she’s seen. “What if a soft robot is just minding its own business walking in the wild, but then some part of it is trapped under a rock?” he questioned. “How does the rest of the robot continue on to finish its mission?”Three soft robot modules join to cross a gap that’s too wide for one to bridge on its own. “We can now adapt soft robots … after the robot is underway for its tasks,” he said.

OTTAWA, Ontario — Canada expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, on Monday, linking them to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader and alleging a broader effort to target Indian dissidents in Canada. The ministry also said it had summoned Acting High Commissioner in India Stewart Wheeler, Canada’s top diplomat in the South Asian country. Those working-class White women loom as a critical, potentially even decisive, factor in Trump’s third White House bid. But while White women with a college degree have trended toward the Democrats in the presidential campaigns since then, the White women without a college degree have moved sharply in the opposite direction. She acknowledges that Trump’s alarms have resonated among working-class White women, especially older ones. With the U.S. presidential election fast approaching, U.S. intelligence officials have issued a stark warning: China's latest efforts to influence the outcome is shifting away from the presidential race and toward state and local candidates. This new focus is part of a broader strategy by Beijing to build relationships with officials who could eventually advance China's interests. Local and state elections have become prime targets for Chinese interference because they receive far less scrutiny than national races, making it easier for China's influence campaigns to fly under the radar. One example of China's influence operations is its use of disinformation campaigns designed to exploit divisive issues such as immigration, racial justice, and economic inequality. Despite these efforts, controlling the full scope of foreign influence operations remains a daunting challenge.

CNN —A judge in Georgia has paused a new rule from the Georgia State Election Board that would have required officials to hand-count the number of ballots cast at each polling place, criticizing state election officials for approving it so close to Election Day. The hand-count rule is the subject of litigation on multiple fronts and a separate hearing on the matter is set for Wednesday. Passed by the Donald Trump-backed Republican majority on the state election board, the rule would require officials at a polling place to match the number of ballots tallied by voting machines with a hand-count of the number of ballots cast. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, has noted the state took several steps to speed up the reporting of results in Georgia this year. He has said the hand-count rule could delay the reporting of results, foster an atmosphere for misinformation and present chain of custody issues for ballots.

The Washington Post first reported that Netanyahu had reassured Biden of his plans to avoid nuclear and oil targets.
