In Sept. 2022, it said it would begin testing fuel cell electric trucks in what it called "commercial traffic" from 2025. It's therefore no surprise that alongside hydrogen, battery electric vehicles are also being considered for trucking. Other companies like Scania and DAF are also operating in the battery electric space. "Which zero-emission technology out of battery electric and hydrogen will prevail in the long-haul segment is less certain," T&E adds. Within the EU, for example, efforts are being made to create the conditions that would enable hydrogen trucks to travel long distances.

The company announced it would expand its EV fast-charging network to Walmart and Sam's Club locations across the country, adding to the nearly 1,300 EV stations currently in operation at 280 of the company's locations. It plans to own and operate the EV charging stations in its national network. The Biden Administration recently announced an over $7.5 billion investment to launch a national charging network particularly in lower-income and rural communities. This will likely boost EV sales, which accounted for 7% of new U.S. vehicle registrations in January.
The EU's executive European Commission is due on April 18 to set out draft reforms to rules for handling stricken banks. The schemes link banks in a national network, allowing a struggling lender to get financial aid from the scheme's other members, forming part of a country's protections for bank depositors. CARVE OUTLindner said the commission's current plans would introduce a "number of new and significant restrictions" on IPS schemes by treating them like deposit guarantee schemes. A "clear and precise carve-out for IPS from newly introduced restrictions would be the easiest and cleanest way" to respect last year's agreement not to tamper with IPS, Lindner said. A report for the European Parliament last year said IPS represents a central and substantial component of depositor protections in Germany.
Home base planFor the baseball fan looking to watch as many games as possible, a traditional pay TV service is still the go-to place. Discovery' s TBS, as well as Fox Corp. 's broadcast and pay TV networks, take up a decent chunk of the schedule. However, as more options are introduced, regional sports networks are getting fewer games and fans have to pay more to watch all games. With a higher rate of consumers dropping pay TV bundles and opting for streaming services, many networks have created direct-to-consumer streaming app options. Few offset the pay TV losses, but at least provide an option for fans wanting to stream.
FedEx Express, which does precisely-timed deliveries , has been struggling the most. FedEx is at a critical point in its 52-year evolution and founder Fred Smith's pride and joy — the company's Express delivery service — has become the firm's problem child. "Can FedEx Express shrink itself to prosperity?" "For a very long time, over 10 years, improved Ground service is diluting or cannibalizing existing Express deliveries," Maciuba said. "Was there a tremendous amount of fat in FedEx Express?

(Reuters) - Armed with billions of dollars, the Biden administration is embarking on the biggest transformation of the U.S. consumer driving landscape in generations, hoping to blanket the nation’s highways with electric vehicle chargers. The federally-funded chargers must be placed within a mile of state-designated electric vehicle corridors. FILE PHOTO: A electric vehicle charger is seen as a vehicle charges in Manhattan, New York, U.S., December 7, 2021. The state received 167 site proposals from 30 different teams, officials told Reuters. In oil-rich Texas, state officials told the administration, “the network will give Electric Vehicle drivers confidence and flexibility when traveling for work, recreation, or exploration regardless of distance traveled or weather conditions.”
Tesla already has a U.S. network of more than 17,700 fast chargers at over 1,650 locations. Tesla Inc. will open part of its proprietary Supercharger network to other kinds of vehicles for the first time, the White House said Wednesday. The move qualifies the company for a share of billions of federal dollars on offer to build a national network of electric-vehicle chargers. Tesla plans to open at least 3,500 new and existing 250 kilowatt chargers to drivers of all kinds of EVs by the end of next year, the White House said. Fast chargers can repower cars in about 30 minutes, but those available to any kind of EV are in short supply across U.S. highways, where their presence is considered key to boosting EV adoption as auto makers convert fleets to electric.

LONDON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Partners in EY are expected to give approval for spinning off the company's consulting arm and listing it on the stock market by the end of the year, a senior EY official said on Tuesday. "We expect a massive approval, but it's not to say there is still not a lot of work to do," Delarue told Reuters. Just over half of EY's 145 country networks will vote on splitting each national network into separate auditing and consultancy units. It is a move which does not make sense for all networks, Delarue said. The "Newco" will account for $25 billion of revenue and 7,000 partners, with what's left of EY representing $20 billion and 6,000 partners.

Charging needs to quadruple by 2025 and grow eight-fold by 2030 to accommodate EVs. Specifically, the US needs to quadruple its charging infrastructure by 2025, and grow it more than eight times by 2030, according to a new report out of S&P Global Mobility. Automakers are betting their futures on available chargingA lack of charging infrastructure is a problem, as nearly every major automaker is buying into electrification with billions in new technology, models, and manufacturing. That's despite the fact that a majority of EV charging can be done at home — if an EV owner has access to a garage and plug. That could change with more and more momentum from the Biden Administration, which is targeting a national network of 500,000 public charging stations by 2030 and has slated $7.5 billion toward charging build-out.
But one reliable rule of thumb is that Standard Chartered (STAN.L) will be the subject of periodic bouts of takeover speculation. The latest prospective suitor, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB.AD), reflects the shifting fortunes of global banking. Under UK rules, First Abu Dhabi cannot make an offer for StanChart for six months, unless another bidder emerges. The Abu Dhabi lender said it had been in “the very early stages of evaluating a possible offer” for the emerging markets-focused bank. Standard Chartered declined to comment.
Meanwhile, 23 states and Washington, D.C., according to the Economic Policy Institute, will implement higher minimum wages on Jan. 1. States that are not seeing minimum wage hikes in 2023 still tie their base pay to the $7.25 per hour federal rate. Workers who depend on the minimum wage are also much more likely to be people of color and living in poverty. Raising minimum wages can also help increase consumer demand and put money back into local economies, said Holly Sklar, CEO of Business for a Fair Minimum Wage, a national network of business organizations, owners and executives that support higher minimum wages. "Putting needed raises in minimum wage workers' pockets [is] really the most efficient way you can boost the economy," Sklar said.

New York CNN —United Airlines placed a massive order for at least 200 Boeing planes on Tuesday, split between two models dogged by recent problems: the 737 Max and the 787 Dreamliner. United generally picks Boeing over AirbusThe order, while an important lift for Boeing, isn’t a total surprise. While United has some orders with Airbus (EADSF), nearly 80% of its existing fleet is composed of Boeing jets. The 100 737 Max jets United is buying includes 44 planes for which it already had an option to purchase, and 56 new orders. In June 2021, it announced the purchase of 200 of the 737 Max jets, along with 70 competing planes from Airbus, in the largest aircraft order that United has ever placed.

Dec 8 (Reuters) - Air New Zealand Ltd (AIR.NZ) on Thursday increased its earnings forecast for the first half of fiscal 2023, helped by strong travel demand across its domestic and international networks and a decline in jet fuel prices. The increased profit outlook follows a moderation in fuel prices in recent weeks and assumes that the airline will fly about 75% of its pre-COVID capacity levels across the network in December, according to Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand, however, added that capacity was still constrained and would continue to impact pricing. The company, which has been posting losses since 2020, did not provide a full-year outlook, citing factors such as inflationary pressures.
