Here's why experts say inflation, which decreased in Trump's first term, could fall further. Here are some reasons Trump's tariff policies, if enacted, may not exacerbate price gains — and why inflation may instead decline. South Korea’s opposition, which controls the National Assembly, has threatened to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol if he does not resign after his ill-fated decision to impose martial law. If Mr. Yoon quits or is removed from office then, under the constitution, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will step in to perform presidential duties. Mr. Yoon, a conservative, came into office after winning the 2022 presidential election by a threadbare margin, and appointed Mr. Han as the prime minister that year. Mr. Han began his career as a civil servant in the early 1970s, working on trade and industrial policy for decades. From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Han was South Korea’s ambassador to the United States.

CNN —UK and US authorities on Wednesday announced a major crackdown on a pair of billion-dollar money laundering rings that officials say has cleaned money for Russia’s elite, cybercriminals and drug-runners around the world. The two alleged money-laundering networks offered Russian elites a financial lifeline, UK investigators allege. The Treasury Department on Wednesday announced sanctions on alleged senior leaders of one of the laundering rings, which is known as TGR. Pullman Global Solutions LLC, a Wyoming based entity owned by Bradens, was also sanctioned, Treasury said. NCA officials allege that the Kremlin has directly benefited from some of the money laundering, which the officials say has been used to fund Russian espionage operations.

CNN —French lawmakers will vote Wednesday on a no-confidence motion that is widely expected to oust the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier, as the country grapples with a deepening political crisis and massive budget deficit. The no-confidence vote is the just the latest jolt on a political rollercoaster in France, where no single party has wielded a majority in parliament since snap elections in July. No government has been ousted in a no-confidence vote since 1962 and Barnier would become France’s shortest-serving prime minister in history. At the time, Intel was the world’s largest producer of computer chips, and its technology was housed inside nearly every PC. That means nearly two decades after Grove outlined his vision, Intel is a shell of its former self. And now, investors and company watchers are seriously questioning whether Intel can ever regain its industry-leading position, despite its importance to American chipmaking. And because ARM was ready with the technology, it quickly leapfrogged Intel as the mobile chipmaking leader.
