For the streaming services, the new hub gives them deeper exposure to YouTube’s millions of users. YouTube on Tuesday launched an online marketplace for streaming services with more than 30 offerings, another step in the Google unit’s bid to become a one-stop shop for video entertainment. The new feature, called Primetime Channels, will allow viewers in the U.S. to subscribe to individual streaming services including Showtime, Paramount+ and Starz directly through YouTube. The National Basketball Association has also agreed to add its NBA League Pass package of games to the platform at a later date.

CNN —Tony Brown, a longtime NBA referee, died Thursday after a battle with pancreatic cancer, the league said. “Tony Brown was one of the most accomplished referees in the NBA and an inspiration to his colleagues,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “Rest in peace to veteran NBA referee Tony Brown! Sending prayers to the entire Brown family!” Johnson wrote on social media. Brown’s family is asking people to contribute to the Tony Brown Basketball Scholarship Endowment at his alma mater to honor his memory.

The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $40,000 for making anti-LGBTQ remarks in a video on his Instagram account. The video, apparently from the weekend of Sept. 10, was posted to his Instagram account but soon deleted. The NBA on Tuesday called Edwards' language "offensive and derogatory." In 2011, the Chicago Bulls’ Joakim Noah was fined a similar amount for hurling an anti-gay slur at a fan. “We are disappointed in the language and actions Anthony Edwards displayed on social media,” the team’s president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly, said in a statement.
