A soldier stationed in Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri has been charged with murder in the death of a sergeant whose body was found inside a dumpster at the base, officials said. Specialist Wooster Rancy, 21, with the 5th Engineer Battalion, is also charged with obstructing justice, in connection to the death of 23-year-old Sgt. U.S. Army Fort Leonard WoodRancy is held in pretrial confinement awaiting a preliminary hearing, officials said. Rancy, who joined the Army in 2022 and attended basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, is from Miami, officials said. He serves as a combat engineer with the 509th Clearance Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, according to the Army.

In a new motion filed Wednesday, the animal rights organization accused exotic animal broker Tonia Haddix of committing perjury and violating previous court orders, citing the recent HBO docuseries “Chimp Crazy” as evidence. In a January 2022 virtual court testimony featured in “Chimp Crazy,” Haddix sobbed as she insisted under oath that Tonka had died and was cremated. Later, however, authorities found the chimp alive and concealed in a basement cage, according to a June 2022 court filing. In the third episode of “Chimp Crazy,” Haddix said that she and Aswegan sedated Tonka and took him to a hotel. In the same episode, the motion states, Casey referred Haddix to Vierstra as someone who could help her hide Tonka and fake his death.

Census data released on October 17 indicates that New York recorded the highest rate of people moving out of all 50 states. Business Insider calculated each state's net moving rate by comparing the number of people who moved into and out of each state per 1,000 people. I do think that seeing a woman on the ballot will, hopefully, encourage more women to vote, even if they don't vote for Harris. At the time, I thought it was going to be a landslide, like 'We're about to have our first woman president.' I don't think everybody in the U.S. will ever be ready for a woman president, but I don't think everybody in the U.S. was ready for a Black president either. Even if Kamala wins, I don't think everybody in the U.S. is ready for a woman president, just like they weren't ready for a Black president. I think Harris is just bringing a lot of new people into the process who haven't necessarily felt included before.

The number of E. coli cases linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders has risen to 90, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday, up from 75 reported cases last Friday. The slivered onions used on the burgers are the “likely source” of the outbreak, the CDC said. The true number of cases linked to the Quarter Pounders is likely much higher than the 90 reported so far. Thirteen states have reported cases: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. According to McDonald’s, 900 restaurants across 12 states received the onions from Taylor Farms.

Ninety people in 13 states have been infected in a deadly E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday, as it continues to investigate the source of the spread. Before Wednesday, the CDC last gave an update on the outbreak on Friday, when the agency said it had 75 cases in 13 states. Fresh slivered onions served on Quarter Pounders and other menu items at McDonald's are "the likely source of this outbreak," the CDC said on its website on Wednesday. The CDC believes the risk to the public is "very low" due to the efforts from McDonald's and Taylor Farms. Quarter Pounder hamburgers are a core menu item for McDonald's, raking in billions of dollars each year.

According to TGI Fridays’ store locator, the chain has 164 restaurants remaining as of Monday — a sharp decline from the 213 that were open last week. At least 75 people have gotten sick after eating McDonald's Quarter Pounders linked to a deadly E. coli strain, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday. On Thursday, McDonald's confirmed that Taylor Farms, a California-based food producer, supplied the onions used on the contaminated Quarter Pounders. Taylor Farms on Wednesday issued a recall on four raw onion products because of "potential E. Coli contamination." The bird flu virus hasn’t yet spread from person to person, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday, releasing findings from a monthslong probe into a patient in Missouri who was hospitalized with H5N1. The patient, who tested positive for bird flu in August, had no known contact with dairy cows or poultry.
