Hoax bomb threats targeting polling places and election offices briefly disrupted voting in five battleground states, with the FBI saying the threats in four of those states came from Russian email domains. “The FBI is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains,” the FBI said in a statement Tuesday night. German officials accused Russia of orchestrating bomb threats against several polling places in Moldova’s presidential elections last week. Threats to polling sites and election offices were reported across about a dozen Pennsylvania counties, where targeted polling sites were ordered to stay open late, officials said. “But I think the number of these bomb threats is, if not surprising, very concerning,” he added.

CNN —Sen. Tammy Baldwin will win reelection in Wisconsin, CNN projects, in a victory for Senate Democrats trying to defend the so-called blue wall states despite losing them at the presidential level and having already lost their majority in the chamber. Baldwin will be returning for a third term to a dramatically shifted Senate. CNN has not yet projected the other “blue wall” Senate races – in Pennsylvania and Michigan – as of Wednesday afternoon. She also scored the endorsement of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, a notable get for a Democrat running statewide. It was a moment that encapsulated one of the biggest challenges facing her campaign – which, in the end, proved insurmountable. CNN spoke with over a dozen senior Harris campaign aides both in the Wilmington, Delaware, campaign headquarters and on the ground in the states, as well as multiple volunteers and local elected officials, over the course of the final weeks of the race. Mitt Romney won more than 80% in Forsyth in 2012, but Trump won just two-thirds of the vote there eight years later. In 2020, Joe Biden won this county by only 4 points over Trump, while Hillary Clinton carried it by 13 points in 2016. While Trump won it by 3 points in 2016, Biden won Maricopa by 2 points four years later. And that Democratic gain helped the party flip Wisconsin in 2020, given that Biden won the state by just 20,000 votes.

For our final Times Opinion focus group of the 2024 election, we spoke with late-deciding voters — Americans who were seesawing between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump recently and making up their minds at the last minute. All of our 15 late deciders were from swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, and many of them voted for Mr. Trump in 2016 and for Joe Biden in 2020. No surprise, most of them had concerns and hang-ups about both of the candidates, but it quickly became clear that Mr. Trump, in particular, was doing himself no favors with these voters. As for Ms. Harris, most of these voters thought she would be "more of the same" as president, rather than a leader who pursues changes, and saw her as less authentic than Mr. Trump.. But in the end, years of misgivings and doubts about Mr. Trump outweighed the uncertainty about Ms. Harris with several participants, and more of them saw her winning than Mr. Trump.
