Ever since 2022, when inflation hit a 40-year high of 9%, Americans have been pissed off about the economy. Traditionally, economists (being economists) have focused on the economic costs of inflation — i.e., are price increases wiping out everyone's annual raise? In a normal economy, the small raises companies give are enough to offset the minimal inflation we typically see. In a survey of 3,000 workers, researchers found that most — a whopping 79% — just accepted the salary they were offered. AdvertisementBut now, poring over the new study, I realize I overlooked the role inflation has played in reshaping the pandemic-era workplace.

Vice President Kamala Harris and top Democrats are seizing on the Republican nominee’s bizarre antics to inject new urgency and a sharper focus into her campaign. Democrats are suggesting that he is “unstable” and showing cognitive decline, using the same critique he once used against President Joe Biden. The Harris campaign, for example, immediately highlighted the 78-year-old Trump saying on Sunday that he’s “not that close to 80” when calling for cognitive tests. His alarming behavior may look to some like a candidacy melting down when the pressure is at its most extreme. With polls deadlocked, Trump’s behavior hasn’t yet disqualified him.

One accuses Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl at an after-party following the 2000 VMAs. In one of the lawsuits, filed in the Southern District of New York, a woman is accusing the hip-hop mogul of drugging and raping her when she was 13 while at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Those celebrities are only identified in the lawsuit as "Celebrity A" and "Celebrity B." Combs' attorneys have consistently denied any accusations of sexual assault. "After the male celebrity finished, Combs then vaginally raped Plaintiff while the Celebrity A and Celebrity B watched," the lawsuit alleges.

New York CNN —An umbrella organization of civil rights groups is alerting the public to “digital voting disinformation” and imploring social media companies to take action. Former President Donald Trump served up french fries Sunday at a Philadelphia-area McDonald’s, oversalting spuds and peppering in some jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris. The reality of breast cancer in men
  + stars: | 2024-10-20 | by ( Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
Why men don’t think about breast cancerWhen people think of breast cancer, most think of “pink” and breast cancer in women. Men make up about 1% of all breast cancer cases, which means 1 in 726 men will be diagnosed in their lifetimes. The diagnosis is rare in men, but that is still a lot of men getting breast cancer. The role of genetics in male breast cancerMutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which are more commonly associated with female breast and ovarian cancer, can increase a man’s risk for breast cancer. By raising awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breaking down stigmas and encouraging men to talk to their doctors, we can help catch cancer early and help men live longer.

Donald Trump visited a McDonald's in a key Pennsylvania county on Sunday. Kamala Harris said she once worked at a McDonald's, which is a key part of her biography. For weeks, Trump has attempted to sow doubt — without providing evidence — that Vice President Kamala Harris ever worked at McDonald's, which has become a key part of her biography. Trump senior advisor Jason Miller also cast doubt on Harris' McDonald's employment on Saturday, telling reporters that Trump was going to the restaurant "so that one candidate in this race could have actually worked at McDonald's." CNN —Donald Trump is pulling one of the most iconic American companies – McDonald’s – into the political arena in the final days of his third White House bid. “I’m going to McDonald’s to work the french fry,” Trump told supporters Saturday at a rally in the Pittsburgh area. A campaign official told CNN that Harris worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983 when she was still a student at Howard University in Washington. It’s unclear why Trump has latched on to Harris’ McDonald’s employment or why a visit there was warranted during one of his few remaining weekends before Election Day. “I think my father knows the McDonald’s menu much better than Kamala Harris ever did,” Trump Jr. said.

The DeSantis administration has also ramped up efforts to investigate allegations of fraud in the signature-gathering process by the groups behind the measure. To be sure, a Bloomberg report earlier Tuesday that the U.S. government was considering a cap on AI chip exports to certain Persian Gulf nations may also have dampened industry sentiment. Investors are sensitive to any updates on AI chip demand, given the dramatic rise in the stocks of Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom and others over the past two years. Bottom line Artificial intelligence is alive and well, according to TSMC, which has emerged as the most valuable window into AI demand other than Nvidia itself.
