Joe Biden stated that our supporters are garbage.”Trump said, “Wow. Garbage I think is worse, right?”Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance also seized on Biden’s comments. The president also criticized Trump’s character when trying to make the case for Harris on the call. In the days since his New York City rally, Trump’s campaign has tried to distance itself from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who who made the remark about Puerto Rico. “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said in a statement Sunday.

The hackers also targeted prominent Democrats including the staff of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, another source briefed on the matter told CNN. There are no indications anyone was able to access data related to Jared Kushner or his devices, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. The Trump campaign is operating under the assumption that the hackers could still have access to the phone communications they targeted that belong to Trump and Vance, two of the sources said. Given how pervasive the Chinese hacking campaign has been in US telecom networks, some US allies are checking their own computer networks for signs of compromise. The ongoing Chinese hacking campaign means that the next administration — whether Trump or Harris wins — will likely inherit another major cybersecurity incident with big implications for national security.

Now, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump appear to be in a dead heat in Michigan, and it’s once again crucial for winning the presidency. For our latest Times Opinion focus group, we gathered a cross-section of Michigan voters to assess the race in the home stretch. The takeaway isn’t especially positive for Ms. Harris. Others thought Mr. Trump didn’t understand what it meant to struggle financially. Perhaps most worrisome for Ms. Harris, nine of our 11 participants thought she would pursue policies similar to Mr. Biden’s.

And for the first time since 2020, more farmers expect farmland values to go down rather than up. James Mintert, director of Purdue University's Center for Commercial Agriculture, expects land values to likely flatten in the short term. Higher estate tax exemptions approved under the Trump administration's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 are set to expire next year. She added: "Let's be clear that the Trump administration resulted in a trade deficit, one of the highest we've ever seen in the history of America." Sen. JD Vance on Saturday defended former president Donald Trump's comments calling Democratic leaders "the enemy from within," saying that inflation, slowing military recruitment and the migrant crisis are a "way bigger threat than any foreign threat." These problems, the Ohio Republican told NBC News' "Meet the Press," are "caused by broken leadership." Specifically, Vance mentioned former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a catalyst for American decline. "Under Nancy Pelosi’s long life in public leadership, the United States has gone from the preeminent industrial power of the world to second, next to China," Vance told moderator Kristen Welker. We can handle foreign conflicts.”Vance's comments follow weeks of Trump asserting that Democrats, as the "enemy from within," are more dangerous to the U.S.' future than foreign adversaries.

I realize my battle was relatively short compared with others’, but I write this to give people hope that miracles do happen. That was not the solution I was expecting to hear, especially on the eve of yet another embryo transfer. He brought me in for additional ultrasounds and another hysteroscopy, and he tried different hormone regimens — all as we moved toward another embryo transfer. Four months later, and before we underwent a fourth embryo transfer, we found out we were pregnant naturally. The procedures and doctor visits felt endless, but with new hope, we barreled forward to a fourth embryo transfer, despite my thin lining.

In today’s edition, national political reporter Ben Kamisar breaks down our latest focus group of voters who did not participate in the last election but plan to this time around. Plus, "Meet the Press" moderator Kristen Welker previews Kamala Harris' trip to Texas. Among these voters, Harris gets a boost because they believe she would protect abortion rights, and some have broader hopes that electing the first female president could send a strong message to the country. But maybe more than anything else, Harris’ trip to Texas is noteworthy because of the issue she’ll be emphasizing there: abortion. Our latest NBC News poll shows why abortion is such a critical issue for Harris: It’s the top motivating issue for voters, especially younger women.

The Chinese hackers also targeted people affiliated with the Harris-Walz campaign, another source familiar with the matter told CNN. US officials informed the Trump campaign this week that Trump and Vance were among a group of people whose phones were targeted by the Chinese hackers, one of the sources said. The 31-year-old ended a 40-year-drought for the U.S. by placing first in the women's road race; she also took home the women's track cycling team pursuit gold. In her first year of competitive cycling, Faulkner earned just $7,000. Another reason Faulkner wanted to continue working in venture capital was so she'd have at least 5 years of professional experience before taking a hiatus. The Many Links Between Project 2025 and Trump’s WorldFormer president Donald J. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he had nothing to do with Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s conservative policy initiative to reshape the federal government. Project 2025 additionally calls for the dismantling of the federal Education Department, which Mr. Trump has also pledged to do.

CNN —Republican women can vote for Kamala Harris — and they don’t need to tell anyone about it. Such voters need to be approached gently since she’s asking dissident Republican voters to shelve some of their most cherished political positions. Cheney’s appearances with Harris came as the vice president seeks to further widen a massive gender gap with the ex-president among women voters. A New York Times/Siena College poll this month showed Harris leading women voters by 56% to 40% over Trump. Trump’s struggles with women votersHarris’ events with Cheney raised the question of just how many Republican voters might be in reach for her.

Harris looks to ‘paint a picture’ for undecided votersSuburban moderates are far from the only group Harris’ campaign is targeting in the race’s closing days. She appealed to moderate voters and women in their 2024 primary — including many of the same voters Harris’ campaign is targeting in the race’s late stages. South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday slammed members of his own party who are supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid, asking them, “What the hell are you doing?”“You’re supporting the most radical nominee in the history of American politics,” Graham said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”Several high-profile Republicans have endorsed Harris in recent weeks, including former GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger and several former members of the Trump administration. “The danger to this country is the policies of Biden and Harris,” Graham added. “When Vice President Harris is asked, ‘What would you do different?’ she says, ‘Nothing comes to mind,’” he said. Graham appeared to be referring to comments Harris originally made on “The View” earlier this month, for which she has been criticized by Republicans. Asked by the hosts of that show whether she would have done anything differently than Biden, Harris simply said that “there is not a thing that comes to mind.”

WASHINGTON — With just two weeks left in the 2024 campaign, there currently are no plans for Vice President Kamala Harris to appear on the trail with President Joe Biden before Election Day, according to three Harris campaign officials and three White House officials. Biden last appeared with Harris at a campaign event nearly seven weeks ago, on Labor Day in early September. That’s a contrast to former President Obama, who has headlined a series of Harris campaign events, and former President Bill Clinton who has also been on the trail for the vice president. First lady Jill Biden has headlined multiple events for the Harris campaign as well and is set to hit the trail for her again on Wednesday in Nevada. White House and campaign officials say the president understands the strategy behind his downsized role in the campaign, even if at times he doesn’t like it.

The presidential race remains razor close, with control of the White House at a coin-flip. AdvertisementIn just over two weeks, Election Day 2024 will be here — a final cap to a wild, at times unprecedented presidential fight that, for the moment, remains far too close to call. Noted election forecaster Nate Silver's model now shows Trump with an extremely slight lead in what continues to remain a toss-up race. Harris trolled Trump on Friday for being "exhausted," referencing a string of interviews he has reportedly walked away from. In the overwhelmingly conservative state, there's a swing district, the Omaha-based Nebraska 2nd.

CNN —Donald Trump is pulling one of the most iconic American companies – McDonald’s – into the political arena in the final days of his third White House bid. “I’m going to McDonald’s to work the french fry,” Trump told supporters Saturday at a rally in the Pittsburgh area. A campaign official told CNN that Harris worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983 when she was still a student at Howard University in Washington. It’s unclear why Trump has latched on to Harris’ McDonald’s employment or why a visit there was warranted during one of his few remaining weekends before Election Day. “I think my father knows the McDonald’s menu much better than Kamala Harris ever did,” Trump Jr. said.

“The polls — public and private — are closer in this election than any I have ever seen,” said Dan Pfeiffer, a former aide to Barack Obama. Republican pollster Frank Luntz summed up the election with a single gif: A coin flip. The Trump era brought a return of uncertainty after most pollsters and prognosticators missed his 2016 victory, and 2024 is the narrowest polling election of all three of his runs. In 2020, the data correctly predicted Joe Biden’s victory, but Trump came much closer than many expected. “This race is remarkable for its closeness but also the insane stability of polls here in the closing weeks,” said Republican pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson.

Hey sports fans: Harris and Trump want your voteBy Adam WollnerOctober is a sports fan's paradise. Rebecca Shabad and Peter Alexander report that Harris’ campaign launched ads Friday that will appear on websites dealing with sports news, sports betting, fantasy sports and video games, including DraftKings, Yahoo Sports and IGN. And the Harris campaign said it’s placing ads on sports talk radio and is taking advantage of major NFL, MLB and college football games. The ads end with the tag line: “Kamala is for they/them; President Trump is for you.”These efforts come amid the backdrop of a massive gender gap between the two candidates.
